Default Ducks end AHL agreement with Iowa

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/...urn=nhl,162312

Looks like QC wasn't the only Midwest team having some financial difficulties.

But despite the amount of press the team garnered this past season, it wasn't enough for the Anaheim Ducks to decide to continue the working agreement for another year according to the OC Register. Last summer, Anaheim signed a two-year affiliation agreement with Iowa, but the team did not meet its financial goals so now the Ducks need to find a new minor league home.

They should move their team out west. Let the flood gates to the many possibilities of west continue.

Brian Burke's West Coast Solution makes sense for the Ducks

This seems like bad timing to me. Now they have to find a new location, make a deal and get it approved by the AHL. It's nice to see the Flames thinking ahead and are now all set.

I've been to a couple of Kings game and didn't really find them enjoyable. Just very low level hockey without any kind of intensity. Would love to see Victoria get an AHL team. It'll probably never happen.

A local news story in the QC's just stated last week that groups from the AHL, ECHL and USHL have been in contact with the people trying to bring another team here. Makes me wonder if Anaheim wasn't among those from the AHL.

From the Times newspaper it doesn't look like it. Not with Anaheim anyways. Since we lost our Flames and heard about the Ducks leaving Iowa I had my hopes up, but I doubt they will be coming from reading this article. I bet whatever league we end up in sometime we will get the Mallards name back though.

I will sure miss our Flames and will follow them wherever they are and will continue to support Calgary.
