Phew, I didn't ruin anything I didn't already ruin. And while I have concerns with some of set designs, I'll get over it.

Ditto. Last time I felt this way about a movie I needed a mickey of rye and a coke the size of my skull to get through it. That gem was Spiderman 3 and turned out to be the worst movie I've ever seen.

This one, I'm more optimistic about, too many people have said too many good things, I'll still wait, but I'm hopeful.

At the very worst it's an excuse to go and puch out a guys dressed as a Klingon.

Him "Kaplaaa"

Bammm

Bammm

Bamm

Engine starts put into gear vrooom thud thud, screetching of brakes, car shifts into reverse thud thud. Door slams, sound of grenade pin hitting the ground. Sound of grenade rolling towards flattened Klingon

Me - "I'm doing your parents a favor"

Fade to black.

I saw the pre-screen of the new Trek movie last night in Country Hills, and I thought it was really awesome!

I'm a pretty huge Trek fan... starting with TNG, then DS9, and obviously fell in love with TOS as well. I didn't mind the later seasons of Voyager, and seasons 3 and 4 of Enterprise were OK, but definitely not up to the grade you'd expect.

I was really excited to hear that Abrams was going to be doing this re-imagining of Star Trek, as Berman had really run the franchise out of gas. Nemesis wasn't just bad - it was a complete embarrassment, and an abomination.

I'll admit that there are a few slight nit picky type things with this new one that I had issue with, but nothing major. The actor who plays Bones is a real treat to watch, and Chris Pine does an excellent job as Kirk.

This new movie is fast paced, has tons of action, and is a whole lot of fun. Definitely check it out.

Charlie Rose has an interesting 30 min interview with J.J. Abrams, much of which deals with Star Trek.

Fantastic movie... it was what Casino Royale was to the Bond franchise.

Nine out of ten. Will need to see it again at some point.

I haven't been a Trek fan since growing up watching the original series. (Never really got into TNG or DS9.) But I saw the movie last night and thought it was pretty awesome. Great action, great humour.

I was shocked, however, that the show was only about 25% full, and if it wasn't for this movie, the whole theatre would have been mostly empty. This is the first movie I've been in a theatre in over a year. Are the theatres hurting this badly, or is everyone staying home because of the swine flu?

Most certainly this new Star Trek is NOT the next Phantom Menace.

Thanks to the new Star Wars, I can't even watch the old ones anymore. But this new Trek has me wanting the next one bad!

Star Wars, FTL.
Star Trek, FTMW!

You know its funny, because expectations and memories and some bad choices really didn't serve the Star Wars prequels at all.

I like the phantom menace except for two elements. Jar Jar Binks and Jake Lloyd. Jar Jar Binks was just stupid and it looks like George Lucas realized that when he cut back his time in AOTC's and made him one of the key players in the fall of the republic. Jake Lloyd just couldn't pull the role off. But the action in the movie for the most part was fantastic. Liam Neilson and Ewan Macgregor were excellent, the light sabre fight at the end was really well done. And I really enjoyed the Palpatine moments.

Attack of the Clones wasn't terrible. I didn't like the whiny Anikan, but I think he was a teenager and all teenagers suck errrr whine. There were a lot of good elements in the movie, the battle scenes were well done. Christopher Lloyd was solid as always. Ewan MacGregor was very good as Obi Wan. I liked it.

I really liked attack of the Sith. The sabre fights at the end were amazingly well done. I liked the dialogue and portrayal of Skywalker/Vader in the book a bit better because it made more sense. The battle scene at the start was to me awesome. And Palpatine made the movie.

I just saw them againt the other week, turned off my critical brain and enjoyed them a lot.

I guess my problem with them is that aside from the music, they don't feel like Star Wars movies at all. Sometimes there is simply too much going on. And personally, I'm sick of huge epic war scenes. I loved Braveheart, and now it seems like every movie needs some huge epic million-man battle.

It wasn't just Jar Jar Binks that ruined Star Wars for me, it was:

- OVER CGI'd to HELL! (Star Trek has real sets, and even this new one has lots of real sets).

- Even more annoying droid voices/banter.

- Massive over-use of the light saber. It stopped being cool.

- Ewan McGregor's innate ability to over-act.

- WTFs his name who played Anikin simply cannot act at all. I thought their apocalyptic light-saber duel looked cheesy and was anti-climactic. Luke's battles with Darth in ESB and ROTJ were 1,000,000-times more satisfying. Especially ESB.

- The space-ships looked like they were made of polished porcelain. The new Trek makes a big deal of showing you how much metal the ship is actually made of.

- The force was cooler before it became a plot-hole. Why is it that sometimes they can blow over entire batallions of troops but others couldn't possibly concentrate enough to pull down a narrowly-missed ascending spaceship?

Hayden Christensen... He's got a more Keanu Reeves style acting I find... Monotone voice, no expression... but he can't pull it off as well as Reeves.

I went to country hills theater a couple months ago and i'm pretty sure there were more staff than customers.

although if you ever try to go to chinook, that's a different story all together.
