So.......how did this all come about? Was it just rumours that Favre wanted to come out of retirement to play for the Vikings? Which got the media all up in arms causing a big stir over nothing?

Childress and Favre are buddies..therefor...according to those NOT in the know...Favre retired for one reason....to become a Viking.
That was NEVER the scenario.
The media is in-itself a full blown circus and man do they ever cling on to notions that arent true.....which apparently makes others liars.
So weak.

I say we still have to wait more than a day. Once the NFL season actually starts, I might beleive him.
For all we know Childress wanted him at the OTA's and all the workouts, and since he never attended those as a member of the Packers, he wasn't inclined to do the same for the Vikings.

Actually Bevell (Minny's offensive co-ordinator) was Favre's QB coach in Green Bay for many years. Hence the connection.
I'm under the impression that Favre's retirement v. 2.0 was to get an unconditional release from the Jets. But they just put him on the retired list, and he was stuck there, so if he wanted to come back, he'd have to play for the Jets.. But then the Jets drafted Sanchez, and felt they didn't need Favre in case he returned, so then Brett got his wish.
Again this is all me just speculating.

Dude, why are you attacking me for having an opinion here? For speculating after reading countless articles, that could or could not be accurate? If that's the case, why discuss this stuff at all because the media could be spinning it any way they want....
I waited more than a day to start giving an opinion on this, but it's always been my beleif, since he lost his job in GB, that he's wanted to stick it to Green Bay...and this is the best way to do that.

I just hope this is the end and we don't have to hear anymore about Brett Favre until he goes into the hall of fame.

I say good riddance to the overrated liar.
Unfortunately I doubt this is the last we will hear/see of him this off-season and NFL season.

Interceptions are overrated as a measure of a QB's failure.

Your buffoonery is overwhelming.
So now...not only is Favre a liar for not coming back (or coming back after retiring 5 months earlier...has to be one of the two) but he is also overrated??
What a joke.

I didn't say they weren't. I'd just rather have Favre keep that.

I know, just sayin'.
People like to bring up high INT totals for Favre and Elway when discussing the greatest ever thing. Weak argument.

They can't be ignored either though.
Favre has a lot of INT's because he makes a lot of stupid throws, that better QB's wouldn't make.

Well, maybe there's life in this story yet...
ESPN is claiming that Favre sent X-rays of his shoulder to the Vikings for evaluation. not something a guy would do that has no interest in coming back.

Holy smokes Favre apologist. Whether it's media fabrication or not, you have to admit that Favre invites this sort of attention. For a low key guy who wanted nothing to do with the media for the most part of his career, he sure has made things more difficult on himself by holding these offseason press conferences to announce his retirement, etc. It's tiring as a fan to have to hear this every offseason.
How is this indecisiveness not tarnishing his legacy as a great athlete?
