Default Mexican Cultural Events/ Cinco de Mayo Celebrations in Calgary?

Hey CP,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any Mexican cultural events or good Cinco de Mayo celebrations going on in Calgary over the next couple weeks. A friend of mine thought she had heard of a major one, but she could not remember the details.

No swine flu jokes please!

Whenever that lazy ass Jorje puts down the guacamole and turns on the computer, you'll have your answer.

BT was at Salt and Pepper (Bowness) this morning.

I want to have margaritas with Susanne and Aisling.

Casa de la Salsa still open? (right next door to Flames Central)

I think they do something there on 8th in front of their place. Music and such.

Don't quote me that it's happening this year, but I do remember something there one year.

I always thought Salt and Pepper was a pretty odd name for a Mexican restaurant, but they do have pretty authentic Mexican food (for a city like Calgary anyhow).

I've never been to the Bowness one though, just on the on MacLeod, around the 39th ave station.

Is the Bowness one the original location?

I heard of a real, live Tortillaria in Marlborough, called Las Tortillas, surprisingly.

I bought 2 kilos of fresh corn tortillas for $10 and some green salsa. I have been looking for fresh corn tortillas for years, and now, well, now my life is complete.

For anyone interested, they are behind the Marlborough Mall at the intersection of Marlborough Way and Marlborough Dr.

I must go now, I have quesadillas in the oven...
