Yeah it's insane. Of all the times to go into a slump...

Slumps aren't defined by lazy play. That third period, and part of the second in game two were the only times the entire series this team has been skating. As I said in the playoffs thread, they got complacent and can't get their heads back in the game.

Funny thing too... if you told me at the start of the year we'd win the Scotty Munro trophy and go to the finals, I've said that was an awesome season. But to watch just how poorly this team has played in the finals, it's all worthless. Three incredibly awful efforts to stand on the edge of completely undoing nine months' work.

Backlund did look very good, again, however.

I'm really interested to see how ready Backlund is to play at the pro level. You have to give this guy a lot of credit. He's only been with the team for 2 months and already he is one of their best forwards. what is amazing is the fact that he picked up the North American game so quickly, playing in a smaller ice with a more physical style of play, and learning to adapt. You have to possess an incredible hockey sense to be able to accomplish that.

Alot of you aren't giving Kelowna credit when it is due. One of the best teams since the trade deadline. I also believe the coaching and preparedness has been supeior from Kelowna. They seem to know what to do against the Hitmen. It also helps that the goaltender has caught fire!

These Rockets are starting to remind me of the Flames from you-know-when. Out of nowhere, riding a hot goalie, playing stifling team defence... in-your-face fore checking...

Just sayin.

Backlund is looking like he could be a legitimate star! Always pegged him for a possible 60-70 point guy after he gets settled in, but there might be some serious additional upside.

Not calling it yet, just saying it's a possibility.

That said, I do wish the Hitmen were going on... WTF happened?

I think you meant A Debacle of monumental proportions! I feel bad for the die hard Hitmen fans, but the right team is winning this series. Now for Backlund to face the eventual Memorial Cup champion Greg Nemisz!

Oh yeah, the more deserving team most certainly is winning. There is no doubt whatsoever that Kelowna has been better, and by a large margin.

It is somewhat unfair to them that regardless of how great they have been, this final will be remembered more as a Hitmen choke than a great series by the Rockets.

Yeah, that term also. I wouldn't necessarily say the right team is winning, it has more to do with the fact that the Hitmen decided not to show up for the finals. They weren't challeneged in any of the 3 previous rounds like the Rockets were and it's showing in thier play. The Hitmen didn't have to play 60 minutes of hockey to beat Edmonton, Lethbridge or Brandon, and it looks as if they think they can win the Final the same way.

Good, more motivation then. Although he might wind up like Loob in that he'll only be here to collect his cup and record goals by a swede, and then go back and pwn the SEL for the rest of his career.

I am just saying he doesnt get any media attention on his performances. None.

Usually the swedish papers report every little thing about our hockey players, it is just too bad backlund is forgotten.
