How's the wheel Locke? We need a new Flash until the old Flash figures out how to get on base.

It'll be alright, its not totally screwed, just rolled it a bit, but its swollen pretty badly, but thankfully no bruising or discoloration.
When is our next game? Its not until the last weekend this month right? I should be good for that.
Either way, I'll 'Sarich' up and be ready to play next game.

That umpire had it in for me!
I showed him a divot in the ground where a "strike" hit wide of the base. He just stammered.
I'll take the blame for the bunt and pop-out but not the Ks.

There is a common misconception (not saying you are operating under it...) that where the ball lands matters. It does not matter.
When the ball crosses the face/front of the plate (any slight part of that plane) and between your knees and your shoulders is a strike.
The ball can well land next to the plate and seemingly short/low. But if just a slight corner of the ball crossed that imaginary box over the front of the plate...strike.
ps pointing with the bat to where a ball landed is an excellent way to get kicked out of a game. Harsh yes, but the ump would be within his mandate to toss you for disrespect. I know it's only slopitch, but a fouler mood ump could do it. "mandate" hmm, why did that make me think of Locke and jdyk?

This explanation helps. I really did not know how they were calling strikes. I did ask the ump nicely to explain why that was a strike. I forgot you get strike three on a foul ball too. So, I got to be looking to swing earlier in the count, and go after any high pitches right away.
Still, I can't see how a ball that hits the plate, or hits beside the plate, could have been knee level at the front of the plate. That would be quite the steep parabola?

If the ball hits the plate itself, then the ump who called that a strike was drunk.
