Be thankful for that. Book an appointment at the genius bar.
I had a friend who's phone stopped sending txt msgs. He went in and they said, Did you restore to factory settings? he said yes and they gave him a new phone.

The same thing happened to me.
I went in without an appointment. They were so busy that I had to just make an appointment for the next day. So, I recommend having an appointment.
When I went in the next day, they quickly just replaced my phone.

For anyone who has taken their iPhone into the Apple Store, does it matter if it is jailbroke or not? Mine is. Not sure how to set it back to original settings before taking it in, as I want to save everything the way it is and sync with the new phone (if they give me a new one).
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Guess I will have to jailbreak a new one if they give me one then huh? That kind of sucks. Lose all my stuff...

You would lose all the cydia apps. But all the other settings remain. Backups won't deal with that extra stuff.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Just sucks to have to jailbreak it again and download all that stuff again. I've got quite a bit from Cydia, especially for themes, etc.
So to reset before taking it in, plug it into iTunes and hit restore?
Then when and if I get a new phone, same? To get all my contacts, etc. back?

Yeah, it'll ask you if you want to restore from a previous backup.

Wow, went online, checked into booking an appointment for Saturday and got the time I wanted. Impressive. Now we'll see if they just replace it. Anyone know if I have to bring receipt information from where I bought it or anything?

So I went in for my appointment. Guy didn't even ask me for my receipt or anything. Took a look at my iPhone and we talked about the distortion problem. We tried a call and listened to some ring tones. He didn't hear any problem. I still did. He said he didn't want me unhappy, so he went ahead and just gave me a new iPhone.
Excellent customer service.
Problem is though, I can still hear the distortion on this phone. Guess it's just me then or a crappy speaker installed on this thing...

So I like my friend hold my baby and the nublet dropped it. There is a small (like really small, I almost didn't notice it) groove on the screen. Is this going to turn into a windshield like crack that will destroy my screen?

Yeah, I am now reminded why I don't let people look at my things the wrong way. Like I said though, the thing is barely noticeable. But it still breaks my heart.

Just don't turn on the defrost full. I have a few of those groves too.

I discovered (and when I say discovered, I mean I came across it inadvertantly) that if you double click the home button when the phone is locked or when browsing the Internet, you can bring up a shortcut for the iPod if you had it playing in the background. You guys probably know of that, but it will be a big help to me.

If you go to settings --> general --> home button you can change what the double click does. Personally I find the iPod setting to be the most useful, but hey some people LOVE quick access to phone favorites.

I just put 3.0 on my phone to test some integration with the new StoreKit stuff on my phone.
The copy-paste is kind of cool. Should have been done a long time ago IMO. Spotlight on the phone is pretty cool now that I try it out. Haven't played around with it much though.

Have you had a chance to see how the push capabilities of the apps work? I know apple wanted the developers to go hard and see how it works, but I haven't heard much else.
