So I'm going to Vegas for the second time next week, and I'm looking for some different things to do. Last time we went we pretty much shopped the whole time, and caught a couple shows (stomp out loud, some magic show)

Any good buffet, restaurant suggestions?

We're planning to shop less and enjoy more tourist-y attractions, like the wax museum, pools, shows, etc.

Any show suggestions? Also any freebie tips?

I don't know if it is still there but it was there like 10 years ago... Coke Museum. There's a huge floor of coke drinks you can try out... pretty impressive.

Golf? UFC?

There's the coke shoppe and the M&M shoppe... right across from New York New york.

Rent a car and drive out to hoover damn.

Water fountain show at the Bellagio, water "volcano" at The Mirage, Pirates show at Treasure Island. There's apparently a Ferrari "museum" inside one either Wynn or Encore.

Buffet... its basically on the casino floor of every hotel and I would say quality wise, they're about the same... Do try brunch at Mandalay bay, the food there is pretty good.

I'll post again when I think of more.

It's in the Wynn... not really sure what's off the strip. Most of what's on it you'll probably discover yourself anyways.

The Coke Museum closed shortly after you were there.

For buffets, I like to go for breakfast late. That way you get all the breakfast options but they also start bringing out the lunch options and breakfast is the cheapest time for the buffet.

If you want to go to the shows, make sure you visit the "half price" ticket places. There's a couple of them, but the easiest to find is in the same building as the Coke store and the M&M store (it's between the two of them).

They sell same-day tickets for most of the shows in town for about half the face value. There are very few shows that they don't have tickets for.

With the economy the way it is right now, Vegas is suffering (I get multiple emails a week from the various hotel/casinos offering me insanely cheap room rates - yesterday, I got one from the MGM-Grand offering $50 per night rooms), so you shouldn't have to pay full price for anything.

I'm not a big buffet person, but the one at the Rio is huge, with pretty much every type of food possible. It's off the Strip, but they have a free shuttle from Paris that runs at least once an hour (or taxis are relatively cheap).

Best buffet I've had was at the Palms, but I'm sure there are a few other good ones. As for restaurants, Vegas has imported some of the worlds best chefs so there are tons of top notch places to eat. They won't be cheap, but there are plenty of options. I also remember a food court with both a panda express and a del taco, and the chili dogs outside coyote ugly in New York, New York are excellent.

If you enjoy "people" watching. The Palms has the top like 10% of the worlds hottest women. There's that, you can rent a Ferrarri for a couple hundred bucks right off the strip. AND I REALLY SUGGEST DRINKING AND PLAYING BLACKJACK!!

Any trip to Las Vegas is incomplete without a trip to the Piano Bar at Harrah's. The music is top shelve and the twins that play the piano are Tara Reid lookalikes!

If you want good value for your entertainment buck, hit the Improv comedy show - have gone 5-6 times over the years - never been disappointed. For a good freebie (I think it's free), visit the car museum at IP - I'm not a "car guy" but it was still interesting. Food-wise, IMHO anything on the Strip is a tourist rip-off, but there is a little hole-in-the-wall place called Thai Village about 1/2 block past the Stratosphere.

I went in April. Went to the Buffet at Planet Hollywood and it was voted #1 buffet last year. It was really good.

Went and saw the Jersey Boys. Best musical I have ever been to.

Off the strip. Hover Damn. If you rent a vehicle you can make it to the Grand Canyon in about 4 hours. You can drive to death valley in about 2.5 hours. There is also a place called scottie's castle on the border of nevada and California which is a really neat place.

Go to Freemont Street at night and catch the Freemont Street Experience. Its free, though you do have to shell out some cash to get there. Freemont Street in itself is something to check out. It is "Old Las Vegas".

There is the Titanic Exhibit at Luxor. Kinda neat if you like history. They also have Bodies at Luxor, another exhibit, which I'm not into, but my wife found it fascinating as it is work related. Basically it is dead bodies on display... not sure if they're real but they are realistic and you get to see human anatomy.

The Piano Bar at NYNY. You can even take it in without getting into the bar, just get some pizza from Sirrico's and sit, eat and enjoy the Piano Bar.

Go to the website of each resort and you can find a list of things that they have to offer. Some things may not take you very long, like the Lion Habitat at MGM Grand, but its something you may want to check out. They'll also have a list of shows that are taking place in their resorts and you can make a list, check it twice and decide which show would be nice to see. There is a few different Cirque Du Soleil shows, I've heard good things about O and Ka. Well I've heard good things about all but Criss Angel's Believe.

I really enjoyed Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. That is one of my top suggestions of things to do in Las Vegas.

+1 for the Freemont Street Experience. More trashy than the strip, and more fun.

Take the Deuce up and down the strip - double decker bus.

Cheapest booze - by the Circus Circus on the strip.

Outlet Mall - take the Deuce south past Mandalay.

Best pool - Mandalay - outdoor wave pool with actual sand beach.

If travelling with children, try Tournament Of Kings, and Adventuredome at Circus Circus.

-1 for the Freemont Street Experience. I really thought it was a waste of my time going down there and watching it. I even stayed for several hoping it would get better but no.

It's not just the over-head video. It's the sleazy casinos and girly shows. Live bands. Great people watching. Gritty.
