#16 - Chicago Black Hawks
General Manager: Dan Julien
The Hawks have been a consistent playoff team since winning the cup few years back. Currently the Hawks are in the second round of the playoffs in the Howe conference facing the Ducks. The Hawks already boast a solid core of young players led by Zach Parise, they will need to re-build their defense for next year as 3 of them are UFAs and only Chris Camplli ready to make the jump.
Top 10 Prospects
1. Erik Karlsson - The smooth skating Swede's stock has risen since being drafted, top pair potential who is 2 years away in the CPHL.
2. Jake Gardiner - Another scoring defenseman, who with time should turn out to be a top 4 defenseman.
3. Patrick Wiercoch - Rounding out the top 3 is another scoring defenseman, the trend here is clear, Hawks like offensive/NHL Sens defenseman.
4. Zach Hamill - Potential riddled by injuries so far, Hamill is a solid 2 way player, who at worst will be a contributing 3rd liner.
5. Derek Meech - Is almost ready to play in the CPHL, longterm potential limited to 3rd pair.
6. Michael Neuwirth - A goalie developing at a steady rate, CPHL starter down the road.
7. Luke Adam - A two way forward, few years away from making impact, but should make the CPHL.
8. Pierre-Luc Lessard - Moves the puck well, and has a decent shot, few years away from a CPHL chance.
9. Marek Zagrapan - A former high pick, who can't find his toolbox, still being given the opportunity, likely not making it.
10. Brett Carson - Been a pro for few years now but hasn't made it to the next level. May get his chance soon.
The Future
The Hawks traded away some of these prospects already but still have few good ones. As well the Hawks have a good collection of draft picks. Look for them to get stronger as the core at the CPHL will be receiving additional help in coming years.
