I understand that shows with poor ratings get canceled.
The thing is every time a show I enjoy gets canceled I am less likely to watch a new series. I don't want to start liking a show only to get disappointed, and networks seem pretty quick to pull the trigger.

What I love about Chuck is how it doesn't take itself seriously at all. It is what I want from television. I want to be able to come home, put it on while I'm making dinner or just want to relax for a little bit.
There is a great mix of comedy, action, romance, drama, that just makes it a fun show to watch.

It's also one of the few shows where I actually care about the main characters. In shows like Heroes, and Lost and what not I'm constantly left hoping that some of the characters will just be killed off because they are so damn annoying. That's not the case with Chuck, where the three main characters, and even the supporting ones are all fun and quirky in their own ways.

the entire Buy More crew is awesome. though, they might not be back next season (if there is one) since Morgan and Chuck quit. need to do something with Jeff and Lester, even Emmet and Big Mike.

I doubt that the Buymore would be back.
they'll follow the buck rogers theory. With Buck Rogers the second season was completely changed with a few members of the main cast put in a big space ship to wander worthlessly through the cosmos encountering terrible special effects, inane plot lines and bad monster makeup and dialogue.
They'll put chuck on the road.

If anyone deserves a tour... it's JEFFSTER!
Assuming Chuck returns, the writers can easily bring back the Buy More:
1) Things "don't" work out for Morgan in Hawaii and he returns
2) Cue the battle between Emmitt and Big Mike
3) Chuck returns to the Buy More as the perfect cover
4) The long awaited return of Harry Tang!!
5) Captain Awesome has his memory erased
The show doesn't take itself too seriously, and can get away with some of these things.

The finale airs tonight at 5 pm on Space for anyone that missed it - or in the case of me - missed the last 10 minutes.

One of Morgan or the Jeffsters are a member of Fulcrum if the show comes back.

I can't see them taking Chuck on the road. The show is as much about Chuck's normal life as it is about his secret life. Balancing the two is what makes the show. Going on the road eliminates Chuck's normal life.
I can't imagine them erasing Awesome's memory. There's too much humour in having him try and hide Chuck's spy stuff from Ellie and Morgan.

They killed Buck when they changed Twiki's voice.

I heard a few rumour sites mentioning that it looked like things were gearing up for a come back. Although you need to worry if the way the finale ran that the changes required might change the show too much. Chuck knowing kung-fu?
(meanwhile Dollhouse's ratings started middling and have dropped every week).

I don't think they're changing the show too much. Instead they're progressing. Shows that don't progress get stale. And if the progression doesn't pan out, they can always remove the abilities. But next season (and please let there be a next season) will have the viewers wondering what other abilities Chuck gained with the updated Intersect.

As for Chuck, this gets complicated. Turns out NBC didn't like David E Kelley's Warner Bros pilot Legally Mad. Problem is, there's a $2 million penalty that gets paid to WB if the network doesn't pick up the show. So NBC brass are hoping to work a deal tying the renewal of Chuck, which is also a WB show, to a pass on paying that penalty.
So it sounds like it's a little tricky here but looks like it's def. the reason behind the delay. From everything else I hear around the net and on TWOP things are looking at least somewhat positive. If I had to predict anything I would say this show gets a 13 episode commitment.
If it is brought back it's great to know it will be out of the time slot of death up against House and Lost. I really do think Chuck would benefit from another time slot.
On an unrelated note, it's hard not to love this show for the quality of it's work but also the cast itself seems very down to earth. Zackery Levi seems like one of the nicest guys in hollywood and in any group interview the entire cast seems to get along great. It's funny to see Adam Baldwin outside of his role as Casey and how humble the guy is. Not to mention how many good things everyone has to say about Levi as a person.

It's not up against Lost. Lost is on Wednesday nights while Chuck is on Monday nights.

It's up against Big Bang Theory, which is another great nerd tv show.

Watching local NBC news this morning, they mentioned a lot of shows coming back for next season. But, did not mention Chuck. Of course, I came in late, may have mentioned it in the beginning.
I actually like the time slot being before Heroes. Good two hour block...and I really have no clue what is on during that slot on other stations, anyways.
