I really wonder, if everyone who has an "ordinary" flu goes to their doctor, and they run the same battery of tests and power up the electron microscopes for each and every case, how many strains, say even in downtown Calgary over a winter, are the same, and cases/various levels of strains probably makes its way to Vancouver and anywhere that those people end up travelling and pass it on.
Is this more specific as to the origination of the virus, sure...and a bit of a stronger of a strain that should be watched a bit closer...sure, but there's a whole lot of overhype about this IMO.

I think getting an email from a random person in your inbox (it was forwarded to me as well) is not exactly confirmed. I would call that a rumour until there is actual confirmation.

Man I should be out there selling silver bracelets or homeopathy or some other thing to people terrified of this. There's $$ to be made.
Damn these scruples!

Yeah, I know, but here I thought pigs were just killing us with thier delicious fatty bacon.
I never thought they'd develope biological warefare. Even if it isn't really that deadly.

Now I am not a doctor nor a rocket scientist but it's some sort of virus related to the swine flu if not the swine flu itself. She went with about 20 other people and about 10 others were sick after they got back as well.

Wow, that's a pretty bold statement. And not at all the type that helps these sorts of things get over hyped.
People were just in Mexico and they got sick so it must be swine flu?
Or something related to it? What does that even mean?

A good buddy of mine works at Bankers, and said that this is for real. Apparently, they were given the lowdown at a meeting earlier today.

Every year a flu rips through everybody's workplace doesn't it? Nobody thinks twice of it when it's just a regular flu, but give it a freaky name and suddenly people start to lose their minds.

With a "normal" outbreak, many people have had a flu shot to immunize themselves against it. Panic comes from no one having that immunity.

I don't get it.....what's the big deal about this virus? It makes you sick like the normal flu, and it's easier to catch? Is that it? It MIGHT be deadly to the elderly?
If it was ebola making the rounds yeah, I'd be concerned. But something I might catch that makes me sick for a few days? Sounds like a typical sunday hangover for me......
