fantastic movie. I still can't believe how bad Rourke looks now. He must have hired Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon.

Sadder, still, is the fact that there's lots of Randy the Rams out there, doing the only thing they seem capable of doing.

Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: And now, I'm an old broken down piece of meat... and I'm alone. And I deserve to be alone. I just don't want you to hate me.

We watched the movie last night - superb, especially the acting, as mentioned. It's very rare for Mrs. Impaler and I to both love a movie, and we were very impressed. With reference to the whole "cliche" debate - what movie about "real life" isn't "cliche"? The trick is what you do with it, and I thought this was brilliant, including the camera work.

Couple of times, I had a man tear.

You know, the one single tear that rolls slowly down your cheek while you can't make eye contact with your girl.

Average Joe?
Guy who was engulfed in fame and glory and drug abuse and is now a deadbeat trying to make ends meet because he was to wrapped up in it before.
Hmm.. I thought I was pretty "average joe"

I don't want to derail thread but on the topic of Cliche, Slumdog Millionare is probably the most cliche movie in a while. I can see no way The Wrestler was worse than Slumdog.

I agree with this more then the average joe.

This was a guy who was wrestling in main events in the Gardens. He won the wrestler of the year, held world titles, and he let it go in the same way that he let his family go and his friends go.

The cringe worthiness of watching that hardcore match against an actual wrestler who goes by the name of Necrobutcher was a side story.

This is a wrestler who's a pretty smart guy in interviews, but he does those kind of matches night in and night out probably 15 times a month for $100.00 per night, hoping to catch the same lightning as Mick Foley, but without the same gifts. Probably hoping that he's going to catch a break where seats at the big pay window are getting more and more rare everytime.

That match to me was so hard to watch.
