Some good news on the box office front for Star Trek.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is outselling Iron Man 3:1 in online pre-sale tickets. A good sign for Wolverine considering that Iron Man made $582 million at the box office worldwide and $318 million at the domestic box office.

Now here comes the interesting part for Star Trek - Star Trek is outselling Wolverine in online pre-sale tickets by 25%. Hints at a strong opening for Star Trek and hopefully leads to a very successful box office which will provide more momentum for the next Star Trek movie (XII) which has already been announced.

Box office (and critical) success is important to keep the Star Trek franchise moving forward. The last four movies have had box office receipts as follows:

Nemesis: $67 million worldwide
Insurrection: $112 million worldwide
First Contact: $146 million worldwide ****By Far The Best Quality Movie Of These Four****
Generations: $118 million worldwide

I think that Paramount needs a big box office success to provide real credibility to the franchise going forward.

Early reviews have been fantastic, and that helps a lot!

I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but this does look good.

The fact tickets are just $15 for the IMAX version (nice!!) in my neck of the woods is just gravy.

I will be going to the IMAX on opening night! I am going to buy tickets early online to avoid some of the pitfalls of opening night. I'm really looking forward to it.

Paramount Moving Forward On Star Trek Sequel - Supreme Court On Board

Quote:
Get Ready for another Star Trek in 2011

Here are the facts from the Variety report:
  • All five "Supreme Court" members back as producers: JJ Abrams, Bryan Burk, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof
  • Script to be written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof (story in ‘embryonic’ stage)
  • JJ could possibly direct, no decision yet
  • Script to be delivered by Christmas 2009 for a possible Summer 2011 release
Shows an extreme amount of confidence in Star Trek to move forward with the sequel before it even comes out.

Is the Iron Man sequel really being released this summer? I didn't even know they started filming yet.

I saw the released Wolverine movie, and I will say for anyone thinking of going, I thought it was the better than the 3 Xmen movies.

You're obviously not a fan of Deadpool. This weapon XI stuff worries me.

I'm so stoked for this movie! So much, that only George Takei can express how I feel:
