Will the Calgary Flames consider a return next year to the Quad-Cities if the American Hockey League board of governors rejects the hockey team's plans to move its AHL affiliate to Abbotsford, B.C., in a Tuesday vote in Chicago?
That's a question on the minds of many local hockey fans, and one to which organizers of a drive to keep professional hockey at the i wireless Center anxiously are awaiting an answer.
It also is a question to which Calgary CEO Ken King issued a diplomatic no comment on Friday.
"I don't think it would be fair to the people of Moline," King said of addressing that particular what-if. "We are not planning for a fallback option. If the unthinkable should occur, we will deal with that at the time. But I am not prepared to speculate on what might happen if things do or don't work out the way we want them to."
So King really has his heart set on Abbotsford then?

I think it is pretty much a given that the baby Flames are in Abbotsford or QC next year. The only real question, should the vote be rejected, is if they are in QC as a lame duck team next year, and who owns/operates it.

Would they be renamed the Quad City Lame Mallards?
