This is the part I really like. I get News, Traffic and Flames updates all day long. I don't get the update that says my second cousin on my wife's side is grumpy that her dog took a leak on her 1200 bath mat.
I don't get invites to slay zombies while saving the rain forest.
This has me thinking, does Chicago have a twitter feed? hmm that might be interesting.

Yeah, I read that. A year ago when it was posted.

They sure do. http://twitter.com/NHLBlackhawks.
They were one of the first ones to embrace it and seem to be doing a solid job promoting games and offering up specials to their followers.

I originally set it so anyone could follow me, and now I am thinking every time some freak or porn star decides to add me that I really don't want them to.
I have set it to protect my updates, but I am wondering if that restricts things that I want. What I am asking I guess is will this be any different than me checking my followers list from time to time and weeding out @debbiedoeshorses and @ijustfolloweveryone

I've found that protecting your updates can really alienates potential followers, which is totally cool and I can see the value in it. I'd suggest just blocking the spam/porn followers from seeing your posts. If you go to the followers section and look at the people following you there's a block option, click that and they won't receive anything you post.
That being said, the big wigs behind twitter do a fairly stand up job of removing spam accounts. You'll notice everyone once and a while your followers total will just drop. Typically that's Twitter clearing out the spam/complaint accounts ... even though the concept of a spam account is quite possibly one of the most pointless things in twitter. The best thin g is that, just because someone is following you it does not mean that you have to follow them back. They've got to earn that right.

Is there a problem with letting people you don't know follow you? I've had several people follow me that are clearly just trying to sell things (poorly). As long I don't follow them back I see little problem with it. Perhaps @ctoverdrive has an opinion on the matter.
Getting a pretty solid group if cp'ers now in the mix.

That was my thinking as well. I will keep it open for now and see what comes up.

I got Twitter a couple days ago, I like it much better than Facebook.
Those who recall a recent post will find me incredibly hypocritical, but I can live with that.
