Unlocking Blackberry Curve

My Girlfriend is going to Africa to do some volunteer work. She has a blackberry curve and would like to use it over in Africa. She would like to put a local companies sim card in her phone. Her phone is not unlocked. Does anybody know how to do this?

I don't own a Blackberry, but I know http://www.crackberry.com does it, because they were giving away unlocks for one day a while back.
