Default Former astronaut: Man not alone in universe!!

Interesting that Edgar Mitchell would drop a bomb like this...even if true.
Quote:
Mitchell, who was part of the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission, asserted Monday that extraterrestrial life exists, and that the truth is being concealed by the U.S. and other governments.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/04/20/u...nce/index.html

Edit: seems its not the first time he's talked about extraterrestrial life, he's either a kook or is very brave.

Makes one wonder why Edgar Mitchell would come out and say that. He's going to be mocked and ridiculed for his statement.

I was a little bummed out when I read that he grew up in Roswell...that just makes me skeptical of him. He's likely just another one of those crazies...

I was hoping he had some sort of inside info, seeing as how he was involved with NASA.

I'm still a little bummed out that Roswell has never been fully explained. Too bad someone or the US government hasn't been able to squash this after 50+ years. still a huge thorn in the side I suspect.

The government probably doesn't care. Just another way to keep the masses distracted.

Exactly. The govt keeps coming up with different explanations. Expect another one in the near future.

At least this solves one unexplained mystery.

Why man is so miserable.

Really? That should be green

Skeptics agree that something crashed near Roswell in 1947, but not an alien craft. Skeptical explanations have varied from weather balloons to secret aircraft to espionage devices. Current conventional wisdom among skeptics is that what was found on the Foster ranch was part of Project Mogul, a top secret project testing giant, high-flying balloons to detect Soviet nuclear explosions.

Also, lets not kid ourselves he said this at X-Conference, a yearly group of nut jobs that get together to sell obscure books, trinkets, and trade stories on alien abductions, alien autopsies and government conspiracies.

Examples, just look at their speakers:

http://www.paradigmresearchgroup.org...erence2009.htm

Quote:
Dr. Roger Leir - Special Presentation (Lecture)
is the author of the The Aliens and the Scalpel, and one of the worlds most important leaders in physical evidence research involving the field of Ufology.
He, and his surgical team, have performed 11 surgeries on alleged alien abductees, resulting in the removal of twelve separate and distinct objects suspected of being [[[alien implants]]. These objects have been scientifically investigated by some of the most prestigious laboratories in the world including Los Alamos National Labs, New Mexico Tech, and the University of California at San Diego. Their findings have been baffling and some comparisons have been made to Meteorite Samples. In addition, some of the tests show isotopic ratios not of this world. He anticipates performing more surgeries in the future and is investigating the physiological and biological aspects of the abduction phenomenon.

Even though we know what makes crop circles, HUMANS, here's another speaker:
Quote:

Colin Andrews (UK)is a well-known researcher and author and is widely acknowledged as the world expert on the crop circle phenomenon. He is the founder of Circles Phenomenon Research International, the first organization established specifically to investigate the crop circle phenomenon. His scientific investigations are responsible for much of the current information available on the subject.
Except the explanations and examples/videos show by the perpetrators of the crop circles.
Quote:

Dr. Rebecca Hardcastle - Guest Activist
is a pioneer in paranormal experience and research. She specializes in exoconsciousness, a concept she conceived to describe extraterrestrial origins, dimensions and abilities of human consciousness. Exoconsciousness is based on twin pillars of scientific quantum research and experiential evidence. Consciousness is within the body and beyond the brain. Dr. Hardcastle advocates for psychiatric acceptance of the paranormal experience as normal, including extraterrestrial contact. Her work encompasses research and validation of psychic intelligence, experience and abilities.

OR maybe he's trying to sell his own books before he drops dead?

Is it weird to immediately think of anal probes when I read "bummed out" in a thread about aliens?

Yeah, I find all of this pretty silly. Maybe he's just doing it for personal gain, using the astronaut/NASA connection for his own purposes?

People don't do that do they?

I agree it's a seductive headline, we'd WANT to believe people in unique situations like this have more info than us and are truthful about that info, but just because your at the top of a ladder (see politicians for example) doesn't mean your above lying for personal gain, or above being an idiot for that matter.

Lets not forget the group thats most excited and invested into discovering life outside our planets is skeptics, scientists and people who otherwise don't believe we are currently being visited, abducted, or communicating telepathically with aliens.

There is not a human being outside a few that don't want this to be true that there is life outside our planet and they are coming to visit, but when we want it so badly to be true we need to be at our most skeptical.

Mitchell's been saying stuff like this for years. He even has a website where he talks about it. His credibility suffers a bit from it - apparently he's into other touchy-feely, paranormal and neo-science kind of stuff. Makes ya wonder if he hung out with L. Ron Hubbard or something. Hearing him speak on the subject, he seems quite genuine and surprisingly logical in his discussion. Who knows? Maybe actually escaping Earth's gravity and leaving the home-world imposes some mind-bending pespective on a guy.

Hmm. I'm not so sure about that. I know I want it to be true that there is other life in the universe, but I want it to be true from afar. I wanna see it through a telescope. At least until we learn how to properly travel through space.

Engage!

I'm reminded of this thread:

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...ghlight=aliens

http://www.disclose.tv/viewvideo/2119/

From MSNBC, the Former Minister of Defense for Canada and Deputy Prime Minister, Paul Hellyer. Talks from Toronto, Canada about the Bush administration putting a forward military base on the moon.

http://ace.mu.nu/archives/135422.php

Hellyer warned, "The United States military are preparing weapons which could be used against the aliens, and they could get us into an intergalactic war without us ever having any warning. He stated, "The Bush administration has finally agreed to let the military build a forward base on the moon, which will put them in a better position to keep track of the goings and comings of the visitors from space, and to shoot at them, if they so decide."

Mitchell's evidence is merely hearsay about Roswell?

Roswell Declassified (Popular Mechanics, 2003):

http://www.popularmechanics.com/scie...e/1281546.html

Then, amid the clutter, in Box 1, we found what we were after. It was a seemingly unimportant document titled "Morning Reports, July 1947." This was essentially a log of the day-to-day activity at the base. In much the same way that a police blotter would provide evidence of a bank robbery, the Morning Reports would provide unambiguous evidence of unusual military activity.

As we worked through the Morning Reports line by line, we came to a simple realization: Absolutely nothing extraordinary had happened at Roswell that Fourth of July weekend. There was no indication of an emergency, no mention of a deployment of rescue and firefighting crews, as was the case with other crashes. That was one mystery solved.

http://www.skepdic.com/roswell.html

Skeptics agree that something crashed near Roswell in 1947, but not an alien craft. Skeptical explanations have varied from weather balloons to secret aircraft to espionage devices. Current conventional wisdom among skeptics is that what was found on the Foster ranch was part of Project Mogul, a top secret project testing giant, high-flying balloons to detect Soviet nuclear explosions.

To skeptics, Roswell is a classic example of what D.H. Rawcliffe called retrospective falsification. An extraordinary story is told, then retold with embellishments and remodeled with favorable points emphasized while unfavorable ones are dropped.

How's this for real proof. During the Flames telecast last night, they cut away briefly to a live shot from the Moon. 2 astronauts were riding the NASA explorer jeep. They went to gather some rocks and when they returned... the Bridgestone tires were jacked!

Meh he is a kook until he provides some evidence. Otherwise this is just an appeal to authority.
