Good chance to watch one of the young rookie starters for the A's this season, Trevor Cahill. So far he has good numbers but no wins.

What a great play by Cabrera to keep the game tied at 1.

Man, I miss Scutaro's hustle on the A's. He wasn't an everyday player for us but he was a valuable member of the team. He got lucky on that tag up but made a great move in stealing 3rd as Casilla wasn't paying any attention to him. I am surprised that they pitching to Rios. I would have walked him to set up the dp.
EDIT: He ends up walking anyways.

Rios and Wells are doing nothing for the team right now. They're being shown up by rookies and MLB journeymen.

Its too bad the A's didn't go into double play defence, they would have been out of the inning.

all players have ups and downs, they can carry the load when the kids slump. I like the depth.

I like the depth too but neither Wells or Rios instills confidence in me. I've always though Wells lacked a bit of intesnity and Rios seems to be the same type of player.

I think Cito doesn't want to tamper too much with the order. They're still winning games with those 2 mucking up the heart of the order. If we ever start slumping, those 2 are going to be moved down the order.

That kid has amazing stuff, once he refines control and learns to throw a few more curves early in the count, look out. Great job by the Jays pen, easily the strength of the club, and please get Rios out of the three hole Cito!

I know Rios is screwing up, but baseball is a confidence sport. We all know what Rios has the ability to do, so it's not like the Jays are putting John MacDonald in that spot. I don't mind the guy being kept there. You don't gain confidence being dropped in the order.

It's the pros, not little league, and the Jays have options which is something they haven't had in the past. I hear what you are saying, but when has Rios ever been a great run producer? He's had a couple of good years, but certainly isn't known as superstar player.

wells has really never come through on a consistent basis when the team needs him to. He hits line drive bombs when the jays are up 6 runs.

Cito used to take a lot of heat because he had his batting order and just kept using it without changing it to suit hot players or cold players. Thing is that his teams usually hit good as teams even if a player or two was slumping and his slumping guys usually came out of it. Baseball players are some of the most egotistical jerks in the sporting world. Cito does a pretty good job dealing with this guys and not letting one guy get really upset and upset the entire dynamic of the team.

What are your guys thoughts on dealing Rios for a quality young arm ??
A deal for Tim Linecsum fell through a few years back, Clearly Rios value has dropped---maybe just to add some useless speculation..Rios for Justin Verlander- (under achiever for under achiever)
