Sure, I'll agree with that. My point is their reason for doing it is far different than a humans.
Humans are by far the cruelest creatures on the planet.
As someone mentioned above, if it was a baby taped to the fridge, everyone here would be just as horrified, if not more so. It's just that people do it with shocking regularity. You can't open the paper on any day and not read numerous examples of it.
I just don't think that the examples of animal cruelty to other animals is done for the same reason as humans would. It really is mind blowing reading some of the reasons why one guy shot another guy.
Like that guy in Austria that locked up his daughter for like 40 yrs and raped her and fathered several children with her. It's that lvl of cruelty that dims alot of peoples opinon of others.
And for the record, I'm not a fan of humans being treated poorly either.

That's fair but I'd argue that the reasons are mostly different because animals don't have any moral code to adhere to, so we can say they do it instinctively for the purpose of mastering their territory or increasing their reproductive success, etc. It may well serve that purpose, but that doesn't mean it isn't cruel.
When a lion takes over a pride, he kills the current leader then proceeds to murder all of his victim's young. He follows that up with impregnating the females, for days. If he maintains his new position until his offspring reach maturity, he's sired a whole generation of offspring. Clearly, he does this instinctively and not because of any malicious intent.
Histories of human monarchies are riddled with the same story. The acts are deplorable to us because humans are expected to live by a moral code, but the motivation behind the acts are the same.

Doesn't seem like taping a dog to a fridge is a life threatening form of torture, but it is definately a douchie thing to do.
I have heard of people doing worse things to animals.......
I have been saying it for years, people should have to pass a basic competency test and a psych. test before
A - having children'
B - owning pets
C - becoming a politician

This is why movies are so much better than RL... in a movie that dog would go into a rocky like montage shortly after being removed from the fridge. He would then exact revenge on the woman with some catchy line like "Return to Sender" or "You forgot the postage" etc.. to accompany his finishing move.
Dare to dream.. dare to dream..

Pssst people, there are 1,000's, let me repeat 1,000's of CHILDREN dying of starvation around the world every day, including North America. But I don't think I've ever seen a thread for them?

OMG, I'm no dog lover. In fact, I'm really quite a dog hater personally, mostly because of the dumb, attention starved, weak, and ugly snoutless breeds many relatives keep...
But Shiba Inus are basically some of the most awesome dogs in the world (along with Siberian Huskies) and I would love one any day for a pet.

OMG you guys talk like showing sympathy to a pet is mutually exclusive to showing sympathy to humans. Both are acceptable, you know.

You would hit a girl?
And you would pollute the environment driving down to Colorado just to kick someone's ass?
You are a horrible person

No, personally I was just saying people in general seem to show a lot of sympathy to the cruelty happening to animals but shy away from the cruelty happening to humans all around the world. And it's funny how offended some people are at the things that happen to animals, when there are things happening to our own race that are 1000's times worse.
And I'm just as guilty as the next person.

For the record I don't want that heroin addict ho to be dead or executed. I just want to punch her in the face. Also I do not approve of people pack taping babies to their fridges either.

No...what if that woman eats dogs?
Once again this statement will likely be unpopular, but the real cruelty to animals is breeding them for profit so that Idiot A can lock him up in his 500sqft apartment for 10 hours a day and have a conversation starter with Idiot B he meets at the beach and wants to do. The follow-up cruelty is cross breeding these "poor things" to the point where they are so fragile that their own weight practically destroys them. When I was younger we had a dog on an acreage (and saw how much space they need), but would never have one in a condo/apartment. That is the "forgotten" animal cruelty that most commit.

Glad to see Rex is okay. Packing taping your friends (when clothed) is funny but not a helpless animal with fur all over his body.

Sorry but it's much funnier to tape them up in just their underwear.

Andrew: I taped Larry Lester's buns together.
Brian Johnson: That was you?
Andrew: Yeah, you know him?
Brian Johnson: Yeah, I know him.
Andrew: Well, then you know how hairy he is. And when they pulled the tape off, most of his hair came off and some - some skin, too.
Claire Standish: Oh my God.
Andrew: And the bizzare thing is that I did it for my old man. I tortured this poor kid because I wanted him to think that I was cool. He's always going off about how when he was in school and all the wild things he used to do. And I got the feeling that he was disappointed that I never cut loose on anyone, right? So I'm sitting in the lockeroom and I'm taping up my knee, and Larry's undressing a couple locker's down from me. And he's kinda, he's kinda skinny. Weak. And I started thinkin' about my father, and his attitude about, about weakness. And the next thing I knew, I jumped on top of him and started wailing on him. And my friends, they just laughed and cheered me on. And afterwards, when I'm sitting in Vernon's office, all I could think about was Larry's father and Larry having to go home and explain what happened to him. And the humiliation - the ing humiliation he must have felt. It must have been unreal. I mean, how... how do you apologize for something like that? There's no way. It's all because of me and my old man. God, I ing hate him. He's like this mindless machine that I can't even relate to anymore.
[ crying, imitating his father]
Andrew: 'Andrew! You've got to be number one! I won't tolerate any losers in this family! You're intensity is for ! Win! Win! Win!' You son of a bitch. You know, sometimes I wish my knee would give. And I wouldn't be able to wrestle anymore. And he could forget all about me.

The worst choice to ever play "the Jock" cum bully.
Man, that movie will always be great but their conversations and life stories will always sound so fake. What a dbag, blaming the fact that he totally and randomly beat up a kid for no reason just because he wanted to impress his dad. He could have at least said that his dad beat him or something and he was transfering it on to someone else but nope...Andy just thought of how his dad always told him about how wild he was in highschool and that that weak need to be punished so he went ahead and did it so he could have a story to tell his dad about how he beat raped a naked skinny boy undressing in the locker room and then gave him a bikini wax to top it off.
Then he scores points with Ms. Basketcase afterward? Ally Sheedy should have slapped some sense into him and then stabbed him in the eyes with Molly Ringwald's chopsticks. Judd Nelson should have ripped open his head and then switched their brains so that he could have the more successful career instead of appearing in Transformers the Movie, St. Elmo's Fire, and then disappearing into oblivion until Suddenly Susan sealed the deal.

So lets get this straight. Last night you:
- Got loaded.
- Watched Apollo and Rocky splashing each other on the beach in tank tops and short shorts.
- Started a thread about how the room was spinning.
Riiiight....
