Bills LT Jason Peters to the Eagles. 28th overall pick, '09 4th rounder, and an undisclosed 2010 draft pick going to Buffalo. That pretty much solves the offensive line problems but I think it's an overpayment. I don't understand why they didn't send one of their first round picks to Arizona for Boldin and then used the second first round pick to draft a tackle. It's going to be real nice for Donovan to have more time to throw to WRs that can't catch the ball. Nice move, Reid.

Seems like a good deal for the Eagles to me. They would have taken the 5th or 6th tackle in the draft at #28 (Britton or Beatty?) and that player would POTENTIALLY be a starting tackle in a year or two. For virtually the same compensation, they get a Pro-Bowl tackle who can start on the left-side now, although they'll have to give him a new contract. You can still use #21 on a WR and you'll get a really good one at that spot. Or you take the best RB in the draft and have another weapon in the backfield...

This trade certainly makes the Eagles better in 2009, IMO.

Andy Reid has always had a hard on for the O line and will always look to make it better. The Eagles now have tow very good (one, Peters possibly the best) tackles and could have them for another ten years. Look at how long and well Thomas and Runyan played for. It is a steep price but the potential return is amazing.

O line could be a real dominating point for the Eagles this year. And I have followed this team long enough to not get my hopes up about wide receivers...

IMO I dont see why they dont make a pitch for Boldin. Sure their other 1st rounder will be in the deal but its worth it considering Boldin is proven. If the Eagles get a #1 reciever they will be a extremely scary team.

Niners re-signed Nedney for a couple more years and Parys Haralson for 4 more. Both good moves. Haralson was the closest thing the Niners had to a sack specialist last year (with 8).

I disagree. Taking a tackle in the draft and relying on him to start is very risky business. Keep in mind Donovan has had the same OT's his entire career. He is the Eagles biggest offensive threat, and it was a great job by the Eagles front office to ensure he's protected for this coming season and the distant future. Getting possibly the best left tackle in the game cannot be overstated. HUGE move.

I do agree the WR situation needs to be remedied. Will it? Likely not, but surely they will make a selection in 1 of the first 3 rounds I would think. Who knows...maybe a WR steps up similar to DJac like last year? I feel a lot more comfortable hoping for a long shot WR draft pick to make an impact than banking on a LT in the draft when 3 or 4 are taken ahead of him.

The Eagles D will be awesome once again, and if the offensive line produces like it should on paper.....this is a scary team. Likely a RB first round that will share the carries and take a load of Westy, and after that I fully expect WR to be the focus. Cross your fingers I guess.

You could put Rice, Harrison, TO and Moss on the Eagles and if McNabb is the QB he would still find a way to F it up.

Ouch with Sheppard gone and now Brown wants to leave leaves some holes in the secondary for the Eagles. Its too bad the cardinals are pretty set at corner or I could see a boldin + parts for brown + parts.

It's not a good situation. Might add some urgency to get a corner in the draft, where I've wanted them to take Knowshawn Moreno to help share some carries with Westbrook up to this point.

It's too bad, because the addition of Peters makes it likely the best offensive line in the Reid era. The D was a consistent all offseason. Not good news at all.

Brown has two years left on his current deal. He's not going anywhere. As long as Joselio Hanson continues to improve we'll be fine. By all accounts we drafted a stud last year in Jack Ikegwuonu who was out all of last season after knee surgery. Quentin Demps can also play corner or nickel.

I still don't like having a player around who's requested a trade. Didn't turn out well for Lito, hopefully it's not the same for Brown.

Brown did the same thing last year. It's posturing by his agent. He'll play and he'll be fine.

I definitely agree with the Eagles front office stance. They said only under extraordinary circumstances does a player who is 2 years into a 6 year deal get to renegotiate his contract.

The guy has 4 yrs left on a pretty good deal.

Isn't going to make much difference in the AFC South. David Garrard has to be one of the most overrated QB's in Football. With only MJD running the ball back there teams are going to get to the QB FAST, distrupt his motion and he won't complete passes to anyone, doesn't matter if it's Matt "Cokey" Jones, Jerry Porter or Torry Holt. Jags finish 3rd in that Division, at best.
