Wow. Dodgers vs Diamondbacks. April 12.
Runners on the corners, 1 out, ball is hit in the air. Both runners begin to advance, the runner at third crossing home plate. The ball is caught for an out, and both runners would be required to return to their base in order to advance legally. The defensive team "outs" the runner from 1st base, and with three outs (batter + runner from 1st) they proceed to the dugout because the inning is over.

In actuality, the baserunner from third crossed the plate before a 3rd out was made, and the defense must actually "out" him or the run counts.
Which it did.

Fascinating!

And just like I predicted yesterday with pitching injuries, Litch put on 15 day DL. With pitchers you never know. Could be gone a long time.

Wow that is something. I had no idea a rule like that existed, sounds like one of the few guys around who did...happene to be sitting on the Dodgers bench.

Looks like Murphy has been called up to the pen, and Tallet pitches for Litsch on Saturday.

Doesn't hit lefties well.

You wouldn't think they'd sit a guy that just hit two homers in a game though. Weird.

Games like tonights extra innings loss are games the jays need to win more of in order to battle for the divisions.

Well a promising start for Romero to the season. Looks like the Jays are going to need him and Purcey to give them a lot of quality starts this year if they don't want to wear out the bullpen by the Allstar break.

I was watching the game when Litsch was injured, I suspect (read: blindly guessing) he's done for the year.

Jays have 3 homers already...2 doubles and a single.
 5-2, top of the 3rd.

12-2 final last night. Good pitching effort by Richmond, going a career high 6 1/3 innings. Good on Cito to let him get that last out for the career high. Also nice to see the run support!

17 Home runs in 10 games for the Jays so far and 5 guys slugging above .500 as of now. It's early and it's been against some weaker Central Division pitching staffs, but it's certainly more promising than last year where the team would take like 30 games to knock that many out of the park and had like two players who could slug around .450. I don't expect this type of offence to keep up, but theres no reason the 5 guys above 500 right now can't be at least 450 to 500 sluggers.

With the jays, why is it always lost of hitting, no pitching or great pitching no hitting.
I know JP takes a lot of crap (much of it deserved) but there sure is a season to season Jekyll and Hyde thing going on with this team that must make it tough to GM.

Jays biggest problem this year is going to be lack of depth at Starting Pitching. With Litsch on the DL this is already a problem. They just won't find enough quality innings from the starters.

I'll take the former, please.

Seriously, it's unbelievably frustrating to see guys with talent have an awful hitting season. At least now we know that the pitching will most likely struggle, with all the young starters and only one great pitcher.
