That analogy is flawed- at some point I made an agreement with somebody to make payments for a product, and if I failed to make payments they would send a repo guy out. So I technically asked for the repo guy to come by my non-payment. None of us has asked for telemarketers to call us.
The one thing about "getting back"- be careful. I threatened to do that once with the "The is your credit card company, press 1 to lower your interest rate people." What was their solution, they started putting my phone number as the "spoof" phone number they sent out; so I started getting calls from people asking me to stop calling them, what company did I work for, etc.
That is assuming this number they are calling from isn't spoofed to begin with.
