She bearly got away with her life.

Her family found the situation . . . unbearable

At least she wasn't a teenager, because seeing that happen to a bearly legal person would be heart breaking

It wasn't really a life threatening situation, the bear clearly realized the intruder had a few pounds on him in a fight and decided his best bet is to help her up the rope.

We knew a guy last year who was an exchange student from Spain going to the UofA. He was only here for a year, and right before he had to go back we took him to Jasper, because he hadn't seen the mountains. At one point we saw a black bear on the side of the road so we pulled over to look at it, and the guy from Spain seriously was gonna get out of the car because he wanted to pet it. We all screamed at him at once to stay in the damn car. Some people really are just that dumb.

Watch the second faces of death video when the husband rolls down his car window to hand feed a beat a piece of bread while his wife films. she did an excellent job of keeping the camera going as the bear ripped the guys arm off.

Yeah.... some people are really just that stupid.

I've been down in Waterton Park and seen a female grizzly and her two cubs along side the road and people are actually standing outside their cars snapping pics and they can't be more than 30 ft away from the bears!

Stupid people.

If this happened out in nature purely by accident I'd agree with you. When some moron flings herself in a inclosure full of bears to "pet one" and gets mauled, ya, that's freakin funny.

I don't see any humour in watching someone get mauled. It's sick and disturbing view that you and some others have. There's a good chance that this woman has a mental illness.

News reports are saying that the 32 yeard old German woman was a school teacher who was depressed over not being able to find a job. Sounds like a failed suicide attempt.

That's what I figured. The guy who got killed in Singapore when he jumped in the tiger den was suicidal as well.

If it's because of extreme stupidity, then yeah, let's watch the show!

I dislike tragedy, and am kinda sensitive about world problems and events and mans general shoulder shrug to his fellow man and planet.

But this isn't tragedy. This is comedy. She did it to herself.

Had she gotten devoured I could watch it noooo problem!

Some more information.....

Quote:
On Monday it emerged that she is a teacher who had been driven to despair by her failure to find a job.

Her former boyfriend - identified only as Lars, the Danish father of her seven-year-old daughter - said: "She loved caring for kids and really enjoyed all the special trips that she could arrange for them like going waterskiing in summer and swimming after school.

"It really affected her when she lost her job and she just couldn't see any future," he added.

Lars said on Sunday: "She was supposed to be joining us today for an Easter egg hunt. I don't know what we will tell our daughter."

I am going to whole heartily disagree. Yes people can be that stupid.

There was a TV. program where a long while back, and I can't remember thew name. A prof took his assistant to go live with the Grizzlies in Alaska. He spent month interacting with them and even playfully touching them. He felt he was safe because he was not considered prey by these bears.

One day a Grizzly got hungry and tore him and his assistant to pieces. Needless to say they didn't show the gruesome part on TV but had someone describe it to the audience.

I will see if I can remember the name of that program. Right now it escapes me.

Found it

Grizzly Man

Timothy Treadwell spent thirteen summers in Katmai National Park and Preserve, Alaska. Over time, he believed he was trusted by the bears, who would allow him to approach them, and sometimes even touch them. Treadwell was repeatedly warned by park officials that his interaction with the bears was unsafe to both him and to the bears. "At best he's misguided," Deb Liggett, superintendent at Katmai and Lake Clark national parks, told the Anchorage Daily News in 2001. "At worst, he's dangerous. If Timothy models unsafe behavior, that ultimately puts bears and other visitors at risk." Treadwell filmed his exploits, and used the films to raise public awareness of the problems faced by bears in North America. In 2003, at the end of his thirteenth visit, he and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard were attacked, killed, and partially eaten by a bear
