for anyone thinking "hey, I can get a city golf for the same or better pricing" think again.

the 'new' old mk4 style is built very very cheaply compared to the original mk4s from 1999-2005

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

VW dealers have that same car with same or lower Kms for $14,950 with 2 year warranties included. You might have a hard time.

Is it the VW golf you are referring to or the city golf? Because if it's the city golf then it's not the same car....at all. Regardless of the warranties.

Considering they want almost $5000 more than the upper blackbook value I'd say its a fair statement.

Keep in mind that black book value only talks about trade in value (at least if you are referring to the trade-in values provided by Toyota, GM, etc. on their websites)

Private resale value is usually at least anywhere from 20% to 70% more than trade in value depending on the availability of the vehicle in question and the condition but always less than what a dealer will charge.

I would say that Kelly Blue Book is a much better appraisal tool (just convert to CDN and use 59474 as the area code as suggested by the website).

I hear ya on that, the City Golf is more like a stripped Golf GLS from previous years. The Golf I was talking about for $14,950 is a 2004 just like the one we're talking about here. If you take a look at canadatrader.com you'll see that anyone that's not a VW dealer prices their cars $2K - $3K below what VW dealers ask for because of that extended warranty and low finance rates available through VW Credit. Trade-ins aren't a bad idea, if you can fetch a good value for your car they save so much time.
