Yeah and I understand that but it seems like an unneeded complexity. The type of guys that are being picked up now weren't really signing for much more dough in the off-season.
My bigger question mark was whether we should allow players released this year to sign with any teams at all, even for one year. I think it lowers the value of rentals at the deadline if playoff teams know they can sit in the weeds and just wait for some overpaid, but still useful players to be released.
So my thought process for next year was to just make these guys sit on the sidelines until the off-season.
