Calgary Puckers (hockey, not softball) '09 summer season
New season, new thread.
We had a rough first season, due to our 1 - 11 start, but really fought back hard to almost make the playoffs in the last regular season game.
*For the record Flameskickass, that game you guys "won" by default, cost us the season.
With earlier start times in the summer, we need to pick up our drinking game, it has taken a hit because of such distractions as 'trying to make the playoffs', and 'games starting at 11:30pm on work nights'.
After most of the team left tonight, we stayed behind and brainstormed some ideas for more team success this summer. We came up with the following....
When we have our first Saturday evening game, somebody will bring a BBQ to the corner of the parking lot of whatever rink we're playing at, sometime around noon. We will show up with burgers, steaks etc, and a crap load of beer. We will eat and drink until game time.
That is all.

I also think that at some point this summer, we (Calgary Puckers Summer 2009 Recreational Hockey Club) should challenge one of the softball teams to a game (softball).

Ok. We are officially going to challenge the SW CP ball team sometime this summer. If we can't get enough guys straight off the team, we can just recruit other CP members here. Preferably ones with a history of roid use.

Do you guys need another player for your summer season? I have missed hockey this past winter, and would like to play if you need someone.

Right now, we're full for full-time players but think we have a spot left on the spare list. Unfortunately, being a spare doesn't guarantee you any set # of games. What's your level of play ?

I currently play in the Heritage League. I think some of your players might remember me from last year's Heckle.
Sparing is good for me. I normally play forward but would be willing to play D as well.

SPARES:
Rampage
Swayze11
Rhettzky (?)
Scott M (non-cp)
Howie_16
Erik T. (non-cp)
We'll have to work a system out, but will probably be an email sent the day of or day before a game calling for a spare or two if needed and the first to respond and commit can come play or something... I dunno.

Hahahahahaha....Howie is gonna play Rhettzky off the team!!
Thats okay, Rhett's going to be too busy with us dominating the diamonds to wreck the rinks!

I thought Howie was the guy who couldn't play because of injury, and was running the clock?

Flameswin, Howie will help your team out for sure. Seen him play and would be beneficial to puck movement. Not to say the others on the spare list would not help as well. I am just familiar with Howie and his hockey.
