Terrible game. Throughout the whole first half you could feel like Chelsea would win it, it was only a matter of time.
Only good thing from it is JT will be out for the second leg.

Very much looking forward to next week's match! Not looking forward to the hordes of wild people on my street walking to and from the game however.

*sigh* almost wish I hadn't watched that one. Doing, and defending set pieces is a weakness on this team, and it showed. Well, back to league business on Saturday anyways. Bring on the Rovers.

Nice second half! 4-1 to the Gunners, too bad Wenger didn't strengthen the club in the summer, rather than January, might have been a title challenge.

My great-grandfather played for Chelsea, by girlfriend's dad played for Chelsea and I live about 30 seconds from the stadium so I have every reason to support Chelsea unlike so many Canadian EPL fans who have nothing but arbitrary reasons to support the teams they do.

Yeah, let them post. LFC seem to have the most support on this site, so we have a busier thread. A general EPL thread would be nice to have too. Can't wait till Tuesday's game!

If you had posted after either the 2-1 Anfield defeat or the 4-1 mauling at your place then we would have thought that you had balls and nowhere near to being a troll. Now though, all bet's are off!

Well said! But yeah, all are welcome here to discuss the league, as long as you know, it's the Liverpool F.C. thread, and the reason you're posting here, is because we're the only team with enough support to keep a thread going.

Well I will say when I heard Liverpool decided to keep Benitez I was ecstatic. I was hoping all year he would stick around. Great news!

Benitez is a terrible manager. Liverpool play boring boring football nowadays. We have no chance of scoring three goals against Chelsea tomorrow. We need to get rid of this muppet instead of giving him a five year contract extension. Torres is the only good buy he made. He should have given Keane a proper chance instead of playing politics with Rick Parry over the whole Gareth Barry situation. Alex Ferguson would never let his personal feelings get in the way of the team's success. I think Roy Keane would make an excellent Liverpool manager.
How about David Moyes? He would probably get shot though.

Yep, the team with more goals in the league than any other team bores me to death. Chelsea is the best team defensively at the moment though, having conceded only 20 goals. Liverpool have pulled off so many wins against all odds this year, I think it's certainly possible. I won't count on it, but wouldn't be totally shocked if Liverpool could pull it off. If we don't make it past Chelsea, but put up 6 wins in 6 games in the league, EVEN IF United don't falter, that is a testament to the resillience of a team under Rafa.

Benitez good buys go beyond Torres. You have to include Pepe Reina, Xabi Alonso, Daniel Agger (he hasn't been using him to be fair, but the defenders he's been playing have been great). The owners wouldn't give him Barry, so he picks up Riera, who has done admirably, and been downright awesome some games. Let's not forget Martin Skrtel, who's been part of a pretty solid defense. Another signing seemingly set to sit on the bench a lot, and he's been playing great. Also, have you watched Yossi Benayoun lately? Another Rafa signing, and he's probably playing the best he's ever played in his life.

Alex Ferguson does let his personal feelings get in the way. He publicly criticizes officials, schedule makers, everything he possibly can. He simply doesn't get disciplined for it. Rafa didn't get discplined for talking of the FA giving Ferguson a free pass, because he broke no rules, and said nothing that wasn't true. You know what happened when Liverpool went into Old Trafford? Fans of United had huge banners with Benitez, with messages claiming he's gone off the deep end. I'm not sure about you, but I think that got into some people's heads. No thanks to Roy Keane, or Moyes.
