I hope nobody has to stop at Canyon Meadows C-Train station this morning.

As I arrived at the station to hop on the train I saw a slew of police vehicles and a City TV camera SUV.

I asked the camera operator what was happening and he told me the station was closed because of a jumper.

Trains were being diverted on the far track but the station was closed.

It wasn't nearly as fun as you think to have to walk to work by going through Fish Creek Park.

What is sad about this is the driver of the train having to remember that *******'s face for the rest of his or her life. Some people are so selfish.

This reminds me of the guy who committed suicide by police officer at the Shoppers in TD Square a few years ago, just two days before Christmas. You're right, 4x, some people are selfish. It isn't the first time it's happened, and it won't be the last. Weird though how most jumpers do so on the South train line. I'm certain there was one at Chinook a few years ago. It might have been Heritage though, and I'm just thinking of the lady who fell on the escaltors, got her hair caught in it, and was scalped by it while others were walking over her on their way to get to work. You can't just stop and help her up, or hit the emergency stop button?

Yeah, it's so horrible out in the suburbs. It's so much better to live in the inner city where there is a much higher possiblity of street people stealing your dog...

I wouldn't consider anything in the deep south suburbs... more like shinguardburbs. As you can tell, I'm still so happy to be out of that neck of the woods.

The train line down McLeod Trail.... ahhh what a beautiful ride. bleh

I feel pride for the excitement generated at my C-Train stop. This is something I expect more from Toronto or New York, not little ol' Canyon Meadows station.

Certain subways around the world now have glass doors on the platform that only open when there is a train (Copenhagen, DLR in London, one of the Paris lines also?), and are fully automated to boot so you can sit at the front and pretend you are the driver!

A lot of media outlets won't broadcast suicides as "news". If its picked up at all it will likely be just as an accident involving a pedesterian, out of respect for the family. Really suicides happen all the time and aren't "news". The only difference between this and someone eating their gun is that some unfortunate souls had to witness it.

All that worldly experience and you've never been to Vancouver?

I heard the C-train suicide stats once, its alot more than you'd think. In Montreal they allegedly have a special crew specifically trained for the cleanup. What a horrid job..

You serious? Oh man, it sickens me just picturing it. Poor lady! I would have loved to read up about this occurence. No one helped her?

Geez we're really painting a good picture for you, eh? All this talk and then the little thing with the daylight execution yesterday and oh yeah a bunch of us telling you the Stampede sucks. What a place! Have you contacted a realtor yet?

Daylight execution? Oh you mean the jumper?

I would really like to try to find an article on that lady. It disturbs me, knowing not one single person helped her, but intriging.

If this was a suicide it seems odd that someone would get up that early in the morning, ughh.. I have trouble doing that for something I want to do.. Maybe it was becasue it was the first train of the morning? Anyone know? Perhaps the person was up all night and then did it at the first available opportunity..

It may sound like I'm kidding, but I'm not.. I just would be interested to know what went through that persons mind.. or anyone when they commit suicide

What im wondering is, how fast was the train going when he jumped in front of it? If it was fast, then im guessing he would just break into pieces when coming in contact with the train? Because if the train was just starting out, or going slower, he would be just getting rolled on as the contact wont be hard enough for an instant death.

During the stampede, the trains don't stop. Every 10 minutes between 5am and midnight, and every 30 minutes between midnight and 5am.

My guess is that he hadn't slept anything, snuck out of his house, and walked to the train station.
