What the heck does this bolded statement above mean? Do we expect the US government to essentially become totalitarian and effectively monitor the actions of every single gunowner in the United States to the level where we could hold their federal government morally and financially culpable for every gun smuggled into Canada by US criminal organizations?
Wow, you've really got a good morally superior delusion going on. Do you get drunk? I don't really drink because a) I don't think it's all that fun to lose control of your senses and b) I know that alcohol ruins and claims many lives.
That said, I don't think we should be fining bars every time some idiot stumbles out their doors and gets behind the wheel.

1) Bolded note: Before you make that claim, be sure to review your analogies.
2) So, the Americans can force feed the WHTI initiative and the Nexus card on the Canadian government and Canadians that will cost billions of dollars over the years because we have thousands of homegrown terrorists just waiting to invade and terrorize the US. It seems the US makes up ridiculous rules all the time.
3) Unfortunately for you, Canada is autonomous country and therefore we get to make up our own gun laws. And since have much tighter gun regulations, our gun/murder rate is much lower. See how that works. In fact, if we didn't have that gun loving nation below us, our gun/murder rate would be even lower. They manufacture those killing instruments down there.
4) One day you're gonna realize that humanity isn't black and white. There isn't just good guys and bad guys. People can be unstable and people can get angry. And when they snap, I don't want them having guns and assault weapons they acquired legally. People with guns in their hands tend to feel very powerful. It's not a good thing.
Anyways, it's great I live in Canada. Our laws are based on social peace and the collective good. And our laws are created by data and statistics that show that the prevalence of handguns and assault weapons actually increase the murder rate of countries, not the opposite. Score another one for the good guys. ( Although, using the U.S. as a comparison is too easy these days, you can't lose.)
