Default How to play itunes music on your PS3

I have a bunch of music that I purchased from Itunes and now I want to be able to stream them (not sure that is the right term) to my PS3 so I can listen to them thru my home theatre.

My PS3 can find my laptop using Windows media player but it cannot find my itunes libray (on the same laptop). The laptop has vista on it.

Is there an easy way to do this?

do you mean you want to put it on your harddrive? I dont really know how to stream music, but for mine I just got a flash drive or whatever (i used my ipod as an external drive), and just plugged it into my ps3 and copied all the songs over. Not sure if that's what you mean though.

I think I want to keep the music on my laptop. I think the PS3 can act as a media server but it it cannot find my itunes library.

Technically you should be streaming stuff from your laptop to your ps3, and using such programs as Tversity, nero's media sharing, wmp11, or Vuze.

I stream stuff from the PC to the PS3. and it helps on cutting down the hassle of putting in disks.

If you can find the .aac files, the ps3 will natively play them. Itunes doesn't support the sharing that the PS3 does, so you'll have to find something that will do DLNA3

In English? DLNA3?

I am using WMP 11 to stream the media but I cannot load my itunes library into WMP 11.

DLNA3 is the protocol of media searching/streaming that the ps3 looks for.

The only other workaround that I found was to maybe see if you can play itunes playlists in WMP11, by converting the itunes playlist into an m3u.

Ideally, ripping your stuff in mp3 format would make importing it into WMP easy. Moot point now.

Thanks

Yes it appears I need to convert my itunes files to MP3 and then WMP will accept them. However the DRM on on the itunes music does not allow that.

One work around is to rip the itunes on to a CD and then back in WMP but that seems like a very long process. Oh well I will keep "googling"
