There was one until recently on 32nd Ave NE but it's shut down - not sure if its being renovated and will re-open or what's going on.
I love Willys.

Yup order the regular burger but slap a fried egg on that bad boy and you're good to go.
Some cool old-school video games in that place too.

Regarding that Burger Burger place, we used to go to one that was in the Sun Life Tower... maybe the Esso Plaza one moved there? Haven't been in almost a year, so maybe it's gone...
I love burgers. I don't know if I've ever met one that I didn't enjoy. So to pick one favourite place almost doesn't even make sense in my mind.
Now I have to go for a burger tonight.

I cannot believe no one has mentioned the burger at Diner Deluxe on Edmonton Trail.
One of the tastiest burger patties I've had. Fantastic.

Fat Burger is great, CW in the NW is also very good. Burger Inn downtown used to be a regular haunt of mine. One I do like that hasn't been mentioned is the bleu cheese burger at Chili's, I loooooovvvvve bleu cheese and since Robin's closed down I have only found it there.

Anyone mentioned Rocky's Burgers, AKA The Burger Bus down on 46th off Blackfoot? I was just taken there for the first time the other day and it was fantastic.
I asked for a double burger and the woman looked at me and asked if I'd had their burgers before. I said 'no' and she replied that I should probably just start with a single. I complained that I was hungry and could handle a double, and she laughed in my face and told me that if I was still hungry after a single I could come back and get a second burger for free.
I did not require a second burger.

Does anyone know if the one on Southland Drive is still open or is Calgary now Willy's Free?

I like a game of pin-ball while waiting for my mushroom burger with bacon. Solid burger joint.

Tommy's Burger Bar on MacLeod trail, just south of Southland. By Ranchmans, and strangely enough, Burger Inn.
It's a sit down restaurant, specializing in 'gormet' burgers, and the prices are a tiny bit above average (burgers in the 10-15 dollar range), but the burgers (and cheese sticks) are to die for. Grab a pint or two of Rickards White and watch a game. Good times.
EDIT: Fatburger is a great place too, and more along the 'burger joint' lines. Great shakes and sides too. I refuse to agree with any of the fast food suggestions though. Except of course Peter's. If you are Calgarian you must love or respect them of course. And they have the best shakes.
I always loved Montana's Canadian burger that comes with back bacon and lots of barbeque sauce. Yum yum!

What Calgary needs is a Apache Burger, a great burger, and you can get a burger late at night, like 3 or 4 am.

I actually found Tommy Burger to be one of those places with above average garnish and toppings. Unfortunately, I found that for a restaurant that was supposed to be be a Burger Place that the actual burger patty was fairly bland and uninspiring. I realize they do it that way so the toppings and condiments can steer the flavour direction of the endburger rather than the meat. For me, I prefer a burger where toppings and condiments are like the proverbial icing on the cake and the main focus is the patty. I guess that's why I like Burger Inn and Rocky's Burger Bus.

One to not go to is Flight Deck at Harvest Hills Blvd and 96th Ave NE. Had dinner there tonight and the burger was below average. No flavour and the bun couldn't handle the burger, falling apart half way through for my buddy and myself.

That there would mean the end of Willys. The one on Southland turned into a Timmys many moons ago. And the one on Mcleod is either vacant or being used as place where some limo company parks some vehicles.
What a shame. Willys was great. Nothing saddens me more than seeing great little hole in the wall type places go under while nasty places like Rotton Ronnies continue to expand.
