Hitmen blow out the Canes in Game 1. 7-1 for the Hitmen. No rust for the Hitmen.

The Canes got frustrated in the 3rd and took a couple of penalties that you cannot take in the playoffs, especially against a power play like the Hitmen's. I really liked the physical play of the Hitmen.

Excellent game by the Hitmen. Both teams came out hard, but the Hitmen managed to exert their will and run away with the game. Nice to see Golicic with a big game, and very nice to get another large contribution from the defence. After all the talk of whether or not the layoff would be harmful, the answer appears to be a resounding no, and things should only get better once Sonne is healthy.

Yeah, that check from behind by Versteeg was just a pathetic cheap shot... dumb play and when he knew his team was already going down. Definitely liked our physical play, and holy crap did Wright ever get fed rights by Schultz.

Definitely not the start Lethbridge wanted, but they did keep it fairly close through 40. You could see the Canes come out with a lot of energy to start, but as time went on Calgary slowly took over. They sure frustrated our powerplay much of the night though. Feel bad for Jones, as he lost a shutout to ill gotten gains by the Hurricanes... the play we took the penalty on should have died on a Lethbridge high sticking penalty, but it was missed. Ahh well.

Kelowna's showing a surprising ability to choke games away - two GWG against in the last 3 minutes of the 3rd period. Whether or not they're a danger to Vancouver and Calgary might not even matter at this rate.

Tri-City is a danger to both teams though, but yeah, that is surprising on Kelowna's part.

Kris Foucault has just scored a power play goal to make it 1-0 Hitmen. Nice play by Bortis, he took the puck right to the net from the circle.

2-1 Hitmen, after 2. CGY is out shooting LTH 23-14. Caine's goalie is keeping them in it.

He made the best save I have seen in this years playoffs in that second period. Bortis delayed in the circle on his glove side, both defenders moved away from Broda. Bortis fed the puck right to Broda about 10 feet in front of the net, Broda got away a good wrist shot but Metsola made an incredible glove save. The Canes are really working hard while they are shorthanded today. They are playing better but the Hitmen are controlling the game. Metsola made that one big save but other than that the Canes are keeping the Hitmen shots to the outside.

Well a much closer game at the Dome today. The Hitmen controlled the play for the first 2 periods but Metsola made some good saves including 2 very good glove saves. In the 3rd, the Canes played their best period of the series but couldn't muster very many good chances on Marty Jones. Hitmen up 2-0 but at least we should have much closer games for the rest of the series, the next 3 games are all in the Bridge.
