Don't worry SJ you're on that list. You're last, but there's only like 4 people on it.
If I really get strapped for cash and need to sell I'll let you know.

Sneaky white text flip...quite the ninja you are.
Sorry about your bad luck, but like you said it's probably for the best anyways.

I had to read through the thread twice to find that and only because you mentioned it. How do you stumble upon something like that? My eyes just don't pick up the extra line of white space.

Something similar happened at a place my wife worked at a few years ago. End result, almost everyone quit within 2 months. Whoops. Anyways good luck at finding a better job.

I remember reading a thread a while back that some people click and drag their mouse (highlighting text) when reading stuff. Not sure why, but apparently people do that.

Funny, I actually sporadically do that myself when my eyes get tired of looking at white background. Don't think I've ever discovered secret messages though. I gotta learn to pick my spots better.

I do it, and yes i found the white text
It's not so much highlighting the text to read it, but randomly highlighting things over and over because i have the attention span of a 2 year old and need something to keep me occupied.

flip you sound so much like me it's unreal..
I'm 24, still in school, and work a second-rate retail job that I freely and gladly slack off at. The only difference is my work comp doesn't have speakers so I put the nhl.com real time scoreboard on instead and check that every five mins instead of streaming the Fan.
Good on ya, hope all goes well. Personally I wouldn't spill all the dirt you're talking 'bout but to each their own.

From that little blurb alone I'm pretty confident that was Best Buy or Futureshop. It's their corporate culture to a tee. F***ers.
I didn't see your previous posts where you talked about it... am I right!?
If so, CONGRATS!!!

Glad you're moving on but it really sucks that they fired you just to suit their agenda.

Wait, little confused, a retail job and you were streaming on a company computer? I don't get it, I think of retail I think store, cash register, customer service, sales. If you were surfing the net in a retail job where you should be looking after customers I wouldn't fire you but I'd give you a kick in the a$$ maybe.

I got laid off about 2.5 weeks ago, and I feel like it was for very similar reasons. Only they didn't tell me so. I was told that I was let go due to a "managerial reshuffling" (even though I'm not a manager). The lay off itself made no sense. I was the longest standing member in my department, I was incredibly busy (highest utilization rate over the last few months out of my department), and the only one qualified to do the work (my manager just emmigrated from England about 6 months ago and is not familiar with Alberta standards). But the company as a whole was losing money, so cuts were made across all departments whether you were busy or not.
Everyone in the office was shocked beyond all belief. Once I got laid off, they knew that loyalty and billable hours meant nothing. So everyone is incredibly tense and fearful now.
In any case it's really not at all my concern now. Luckily my skills and credentials allowed me to land an interview the very next morning after my lay off and a job two weeks after. I just got my 5 weeks of severence along with payout for my vacation and overtime today, and my first day of work at my new place was yesterday, so I'm living high right now, while the poor hardworking folk at my old company are still living in fear after my departure. Meh ah well!!

Not that kind of retail store. We have an office which is a necessity for the type of job. I'm not the cashier, I'm the supervisor. My tasks are all stuff that I do out on the floor or in the office. I just stream the games on the Fan 960 and just check in to the office every once and a while to check the score, check CP etc.
When my tasks were done (which, since I was an awesome worker, didn't take long) I'd just chill out in the office and give my cashier assistance when they needed it. My job was very goal oriented. Get x number of jobs done and you're good for the evening. I'd just finish them all right away and then enjoy my free time, instead of some people who just work half assed all the time and don't get free time.
I've never had anything but a glowing performance review and always was given the important jobs because I was my bosses right hand man. In fact, I was there before she was and was the Ast. Manager at the time. I really mentored her into her new store and helped her establish herself there. I really got sold out and all just for dramatic effect to scare a bunch of 18 yo kids into working hard because they'll be afraid to get fired.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I think you should just move on amicably. Why drag others under the bus with you? Also, if you were a supervisor and all these people were doing shady stuff under you're watch, that only confirms the employers reasons for letting you go. I feel for you though, and my advice would be to remember that this is one of the reasons you're going to uni...to not have to work these crappy jobs. Also, you might need to use this job for references...so you're only screwing yourself in the end.

What responsibility is that exactly? To sob and cry that a crappy ass job fired me?
Pretty sure the thread was that I'm happy because the place was a joke and I'm wasting my time there, even if it is only a part time job while I get a real education.

I think amicably is what I'll do. And just to clarify the shady stuff wasn't under my watch, it was done by my fellow supervisors (mostly) and I heard about it because they bragged about it to me, not because I watched them do it. They did it on their own and told me of their own accord.
