Ummm, no they didn't, first of all there is no such thing as a partial afterburner so I'm not sure what you mean by "full on", their either lite or not and if their
on it's a major occurrence happening and the phone lines would be lite up with people complaining of their windows being blown out.
Oh and what kind of format does 8 CF18's look like in attack format? I've never heard of eight. Was it a eight aircraft triangle? never seen or heard of it ever. most formations of fighters are just of two but some bombing runs are of three and six like below.
