Default PC losing time and date settings

My PC has lost the time and date settings 4 or 5 times in the last week. It's more of a nuisance than anything - with the wrong date, my back-up and anti-virus go wonky. I've been resetting the date, syncing with time.windows.com, and then rebooting. So I have a workaround that's more of an annoyance than anything right now.

I replaced the battery on the motherboard on the weekend, as that was my first thought as to what might be causing the time and date settings to be lost. But I just had the issue come up again tonight when I woke up the computer from hibernation mode.

What else could be causing this? Any ideas?

I think you answered your own question.

Bum battery, or put it in upside down or bad connection?

It doesn't lost the settings after every reboot or wake up though. It's intermittent.

Even more reason to check the connection, or try a new battery.

have you reset the time in your BIOS at all since you replaced the battery? It could be the time is off in the BIOS and that is causing the issue.

I can check the BIOS time and date next time I start-up. How would I test the battery connection? As mentioned, I already have a new battery in the motherboard.

Just look at the connections, Make sure the tab that presses into the battery is making full contact, if it got bent then it might not be. I assume there is no corrosion or anything, but if there happened to be it might cause a problem.
