Great idea SportsJunky!
MVP - Hill
POY - Doc
ROY - Purcey
Surprise of 09 - Adam Lind
I think Hill has a terrific impact at the top of the order, setting the table for Wells and Rios to have solid years. As for Doc, other than injury or trade, this is as close to a sure thing as the Jays have.
I'm not sure if Purcey is technically a rookie, but I consider him one, and I'm hoping he is a legitimate #2.
Adam Lind seems to be a bit of a forgotten man, with Snider taking the limelight and so much fretting with pitching. A young player with legitimate power and the ability to hit to all fields has an opportunity to have a boatload of RBIs with Hill, Rios, and Wells ahead of him.

Great Idea!
MVP - Wells (misses some time in April but has a rebound year)
POY - Doc (my perdiction) Doc wins the award but is traded in July)
ROY - Snider
Surprise of 09 - Romeo has solid season for the Jays....
Dissapointments... Overbay continues to struggle and shows limited power. Ryan losses his role.

MVP- Halladay, he'll be the only starter who throws 200+ innings
POY- Aaron Hill since they already give Halladay the MVP.
ROY- Snider
Surprise of 09 - Scott Rolen. Leads the team with 25 home runs and slugs close to .500
How many games does the team win? I'll say they surprise a bit and find a way to win 80 games this year. Not great, but given the experience in the starting rotation, not terrible either.

Yep he was sent to AAA today. The Bullpen is now set for the start of the season....
Accardo had a rough preseason pitched in 10.1 innings had an ERA of 8.71. Gave up 18 hits.....

Inglett is hurt, plus the Jays have an option on this player meaning he can be sent down.
Jays have Macdonald on the bench meaning Inglett is completing for the same job.
Millar on the other hand gives the Jays power and will DH which is a needed element.

Ugh, Jays wouldn't pony up $5M for a big bat in free agency but we've got Bautista and MacDonald making $5M combined, and combined they still aren't starting material.

Why pony up $5 million for a big bat when it's painfully obvious by the look of the pitching staff that the Jays will most certainly not contend for a playoff spot.

Then pony up $5M for a pitcher.

I agree, as the Jays starting staff is going to struggle this year with the exception of Doc and maybe Litsch.
I get the sense the Jays management are writing off the season and are going to play the young guys all year (i.e. could be a last placed team this year).

Gaston has said as much, but I think Purcey is legit.
In 2007 we started the year with Doc-AJ-Chacin-Towers-Ohka, so its not like this is the worst rotation ever. We got bailed out by having three prospects turn into legit pros, so expecting one more (of Romero, Mills, Cecil) isn't silly.
Litsch is kinda a lynchpin in my eyes, if he has a bad season (which is certainly possible) and burns out our 'pen in losses before our 4/5 guys start then we're cooked. If he plays like he finished the year, or like he started the year (7-0), then I think our pitching will be at least average.
Of course, this is all with the expectation that Doc gives a Quality start every night, which is neither reasonable nor fair.
