I agree. Stamps look very good going into next season.
Only think I would like to see is another rusher. i think they need to do a better job of generating consistant pressure. Labinjo is great, but lets not forget he won't be a secret like he was for much of last year. He'll get more double teams and with having no Hughes inside, i think they need to go get a rusher to play opposite of Labinjo.
If they lose Freeman, he'll also have to be replaced IMO. He was a great block eater.
I'm not too concerned about losing Carpetner. He is versatile, but at the same time Rasheed, Armour and Shannon James are all better anyway. i think you can find a replacement for Carpenter through the Arena league or the draft and not have to get an established guy.
I also don't mind losing anyone out of the secondary. lenny Walls, who they added late last season, really impressed me. He actually reminds me alot of Browner and its why even though i'm thrilled to get Browner back, I think Walls coudl have handled the job. I think he has a bright future.
Losing Dales does suck though. However, i have confidence in Huffnagel enough to give his replacement a shot. The deadline for the NFL has officiall pased so it is confirmed that Dangelis will be back which is a big boost.

Stamps sign Kashama
The six-foot-four, 270-pound Montreal native had nine tackles and one sack last season with the Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Roughriders are cheating cheaters for the third straight year under the cap:
http://tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=273278
What a trash organization, they can't play by the rules they whined for to begin with, not to mention the extra-curricular activities of their management and various players.
They should be fined 10x the amount they were over since they don't care about adhering to the rules at all.

The Cap Management System is flawed and needs to be reworked. Not only does it not properly allow for injury replacement players but it allows teams to go over LEGALLY. You may freely exceed the cap. There are no rules stating that exceeding the cap is against the rules, only that a luxury tax will be applied, just like MLB.
EDIT: I don't want to get another infraction.

Should have just cut Marcus Crandell sooner.

CFL Commissioner Marc Cohon: "The Riders spent $120,000 more than the next closest team (mtl) because of injuries."
$120,000 more than anyone else in the league to replace injured players. Pretty hard to argue with that and from the Commissioner himself.

Only team that has had trouble with it the last 2 years is the Riders. That should tell you something right there.

Yep, the poor Riders had to pay for all of those injuries... I mean no other team dealt with injuries this year, just the Riders. I'm sure if for instance, the Stamps had to deal with losing almost their entire front 7 on the D, they would have been over the cap too... oh wait they did lose them, and they didn't violate the cap... imagine that - MANAGEMENT. Also, a lot of those broken legs for instance landed the Riders' higher priced players on the 9 game list, which makes those salaries EXEMPT from the cap, which also usually means a cheaper replacement is found... just imagine how much over the cap they would have been if they didn't suffer 20 broken legs, and Dominguez' annual bruised knee.
look at this quote from one of those plethora of "injuries" in Riderville:
Quote:
In particular, Justin was stashed on the injured reserve list to start this year in Regina, even though he wasn't hurt. "I had problems with that whole thing (in Regina) just because they were trying to tell people I was injured," he said.
|
The Riders were the ONLY TEAM to carry over 70 people on their roster this past year.
Maybe if their GM stopped allegedly oogling babysitters and instead look at the accounting the Riders would stop violating the cap EVERY SINGLE YEAR.
Trash organization from top to bottom.

Funny, the Rider fan must be putting works into the commissioner's mouth:
Quote:
"In terms of injured players on the nine-game reserve list, they were the highest," CFL commissioner Mark Cohon told us yesterday. "But those aren't counted. This really wasn't about injuries."

Yeah and you sure are showing the class of Stamps fans. Get back to me when your fan base exceeds 50 people.

The IR doesn't count against the cap everyone, but you obviously, knows that. Riders still spent $120,000 more than the rest of the league.
I watched Cohon's entire interview with Bob Mcowen (sp?) today. He did say that in his opinion the Riders going over the cap wasn't purely an injury related issue, then the very next sentence said the quote I posted above.
Your inferiority complex just makes me love this city that much more. It must really get to you that there are more Rider fans in Calgary than Stamps fans.

Not really. If I was born in Sask, I'd be busting my ass to get out of there too. Calgary just happens to be the closest major city and the logical stop for the bushers when they run out of gas money.

I'm giving Tillman the benefit of the doubt on this until proven guilty in court. The stigma to that charge is so severe that he may never recover, even if proven innocent.
