32bit or 64bit?
Im running 64bit 7068 on a intel quadcore 9550 with 4gb ram, and its really fast compared to 64bit Vista sp2. Things like extracting rar files, boot up time, shut down time are very noticeable. You will be impressed

How stable is 7068? I only have one computer atm so can't risk any possible downtime with it being end of semester. Chances are I wont try till after exams anyway, but curious.

32bit. Core2Duo E6600 with 2GB of RAM. I have Vista Ultimate SP1 and things have been running fine for the most part, however I still get BSOD once in a while.
So if I install build 7068, and they release a new build, do I have reinstall the new build again or is there a way to update the OS?
Also, I've read that the release candidate is going to be out in May. If I install build 7068, will have to reinstall the the RC once is out?
I think the answers to both my questions are 'yes', but I'm just confirming.

when the next build comes out which looks like it maybe 7070 you can either upgrade or do a clean install. I did an upgrade from 7048 to 7068 and everything is fine. For the RC you would mostly likely need to do a clean install.

Thanks for the info.
I've never been on the cutting edge of the newest Windows OSes because of the technical challenges with drivers/etc., but because of Vista, I'm willing to take the leap.

When i first installed it on my laptop, it found all my drivers I didnt have to download anything. WIth my desktop it was the same thing, ATI and nvidia have beta drivers that pop up in windows updates. When vista lauched I wasnt able to find drivers

Ok -- I burned the ISO to a disc, I partitioned my primary drive, got Build 7068 (Ultimate) installed, installed my LAN driver, NVIDIA drivers, and Audigy drivers and performed Windows Update. I'll have to install some apps tonight - Firefox, possibly iTunes and some other stuff.
I really like the new task bar (with jump lists and previews). It's quite a bit faster than Vista while booting which is great.

I'll have to say, the 7068 build is really fast. I'm actually quite surprised and impressed by it. I'm using it more then my Windows XP boot now. The only thing I can't run is my VPN software for work.

I have to say Build 7077 is the best build to date. Its blazing fast and has really good driver support.

oh yeah? noticeable difference between 7077 and 7068?
I'm noticing one quirk in 7068, but not sure if it's the mobo/HD or the OS. when it comes out of sleep mode, my secondary harddrive disappears from device manager and disk management. Have to reboot to get it back.
Re-seeded the data cable, but not the power cable yet. (the cables are routed in a way that i have take my case apart to do the power cable, drawbacks of a clean looking interior i guess).

out of all the builds i tried (7000, 7022, 7048, 7057, 7068, 7077) 7077 is hands down the fastest and most stable version of them all. There were some minor bugs in 7068 I found which are fixed in 7077. Some people had the same problem you were having and its claimed to be fixed.

How does Windows 7 handle Office 2007 apps?
