Speaking of deluxe editions, one of my favourite bands, Pearl Jam, has just re-released their classic album, TEN, in several deluxe edition packages. Features the same cheesey album cover with different colours, the original version of the album, a version of the album re-mixed by Brenden O Brien (who I think produced their best work), a bunch of extra tracks, and the DVD of MTV Unplugged.
There's a super deluxe edition that has a whole crapload of collectibles and yes, vinyl, too.
I'm usually not a fan of re-releases but i'm interested to hear the remixed version and the extra tracks, as well as the Unplugged DVD. The band was heavily involved in the re-release so hopefully its actually worth it and not just a cash grab by the old record company.
Unfortunately no shrooms and cruising in Eddie Vedder's Ferrari are included.

Actually, the new releases of Ten has a remastered version and a remixed version. The original version is not included.

My mistake...how different would a remastered version sound?

Looking forward to the new Lacuna Coil cd, "Shallow Life", next month. I really like the new single "Spellbound", and I can't wait to hear the rest of the cd.

Probably almost nothing. Although it depends on who remastered it. For example the guy who remastered Dark Side of the Moon did a piss poor job. Never ever buy the DSOTM SACD it is crap.
Maybe just a little clearer, a little more crisp sound.

For those who are Coheed and Cambria fans, they've just released a live album of all four of their albums with DVDs and tonnes of extras. It's called Neverender.
Second Stage Turbine Blade is better live, but it still sucks.

And I'm dying to hear the new Doves records. The first single (and video) for Kingdom of Rust is great!

To any and all hip hop heads: Brother Ali's new EP The Truth is Here came out today. Exceptional, has a couple older "unreleased" cuts, but it is amazing. Definite must have. Man, where's Ro when you need him?

That new Decemberists album is something else. Really hard. A concept album too (although all of their albums have verged on it they actually pull it off).

I love circling back to this thread for all the great stuff. Silversun Pickup is right up my alley, I've got Panic Switch looping. Such a great sound. I'll buy buying their discs for sure.

Swoon is available online if you check out the right sites. You can always buy it when it's available in stores.

I have tried to enjoy them, but that voice is so cloying.
If this one is harder and less twee, that could be interesting.

The use of Shara Worden is amazing in it. Colin Meloy's voice isn't for everyone, but man, that album is seriously awesome.
