Did that "speech" not bother you in the slightest or are you still content to wallow in ignorance?

This video needs backstory.
Who is this dude? What is this event? Why the heck does it seem so civilized? Where is this?

Who is that guy?
You have to appreciate the irony of a wizened, wheezing old coot talking about how courageous it would be to carry out a suicide mission.
By the looks of it, this fossil has had 75 years to put up or shut up. He didn't do either.

Answering my own question (and Rouge's), he's Abdullah Al-Nafisi, a Kuwaiti professor by trade.
Born in 1945, he graduated from Victoria College in Cairo, and later earned his B.A. in Politics from the American University in Beirut. He received a Ph.D. in Politics in 1972 from Cambridge University (yes, the Cambridge University). He was an MP in Kuwait's parliament, then went on to Chair the politics department at the University of Kuwait, where he remains a professor.
He's also apparently a member of the Majlis al-shoura (or al-shura), which is an advisory body to the king of Saudi Arabia and which also has some legislative functions (I reckoned I'd find a link to Saudi Arabia if I looked hard enough). He is also apparently a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood - a multinational fundamentalist Islamic political organization which seeks to have the Qur'an as the basis of law and order and life in general, and in particular Sunni interpretations thereof.
This speech apparently took place in Bahrain, and aired on Al-Jazeera back on February 2, 2009, just after Cheers.
I can't find any info on who the audience is.

I can't speak for others but yeah, it bothered me. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it an 8.
Khrushcov's shoe banging at the UN was a 9.
Some of Bush's speech's I'd give a 6.

Actually, it didn't bother me in the least. If you are terrorized by the terrorists then .... oh, I won't actually bother saying it.....
This guy's goal is to make Muslims hate the west and to make the west hate Muslims. And he apparently is doing a find job at both.

Yes, love will bring us together.
This isn't some coot in a far off Saudi basement, in his pajamas, making jihadi-porn. He is as mainstream as you can get. On TV at a big speaking engagement paid by others. And that doesn't bother you.
This is as disturbing as George Galloway ability to gather up 20 million in vehicles and cash (from "British" donors ) to hand over to Hamas publicly.
This isn't some small insignificant group of haters.

Yes, ignorance is NOT painting people all with the same brush. Well done. I'm a fool.
Of course it's a little worrisome. But I tend to ask a lot more questions before I jump to conclusions.
Hey, here's one. Considering it is the internet and all. Stuff is manipulated every day, very easily. Sometimes for fun, sometimes as a joke, sometimes by people trying to make points by lying.
Did those subtitles accurately reflect what he was saying?

This is exactly what I was going to write. Whether or not it is the actual speech (and there is proof that there is, I was just trying to make a point in my other post) it doesn't scare me that much. We know some people think like that. We also know some people just us it as a rallying cry.
The fact is, if you start freaking out or even been indignant, or changing you opinion of people based on one loony's rantings, they've won.
Yes there is a threat. We know that. And yes I'd be sad if innocents died. But I'm not going to be afraid of it. I have a better chance of getting hit by a car or dying from a bad steak.

Actually I know people who have been killed by terrorists and I know people who have survived terrorist attacks. This isn't some faux conflict generated solely by dialogues. There are people out there, not just Muslims, who seek to impose their own medieval and barbaric views on everyone else and if that fails, they are just happy to watch the whole world stamped out under the boot-heel of terror.
We must oppose people like this and their followers with the utmost intensity.

Did anyone stereotype Islamic or Arabic people at all? You did that yourself.
