For a team that was supposed to be so great and dominant team Canada has sure sucked this tournament.
The major issue that I have with womens curling that makes it tough for me to get into is that it seems it rarely is who will make the big shot to win and more who will screw up less to lose.

Goes for every women's sport.

There's definitely more big shot-making at the World's . I think the issue with Canadian women's curling is that there are not a lot of veteran teams out there, leading to more mistakes as teams are not as experienced in high-pressure situations.

And Team Jennifer Jones wins the tournament 8-5 over Team Marla Mallett from BC!
From tie-breaker to title, another great run from Team Jones for the second straight year; good luck to them at Worlds!
Did anybody else catch the action of the final game?

Caught a bit between commercials and periods of the Flames game.
Mallett had a chance to knock Jones out of the tournament on Thursday in Draw 17 when Jones was playing poorly. Came back to haunt her as there was no way she was beating Jones while on a roll.

I think it's worth noting though that Jennifer Jones was curling 93% in the first half of the game and finished it at 89%. You can't really get much better than that after playing the entire week, including 5 must-win games. Her draws in the 3rd and 5th end were fantastic to score two two-point ends.
And Jill Officer's 4 shots in the 9th and 10th.. wow!

It's really too bad BC couldn't pull off the win. Jennifer Jones and her entire team bugs me to no end.

Yes Canada's Womens teams in general really sucked. Our best (supposedly) went to the World's and finished 4th!
I watched a bit of it... the world tournament was also full of mistakes. After watching the greatness that was the Brier, it was really hard to stomach.

Would disagree, there is lots of top Women rinks in Canada. Not to mention Jennifer Jones is a World champion from a previous year.
Problem is there is LOTS of quality teams at the Worlds.
Some times the mistake can be caused by pressure, ice conditons, rocks etc.......

women's curling internationally has caught up to canada, and that's a good thing for the sport. that's not to say that there are as many quality teams abroad, there is definitely more quality tams in canada, but the world's best are as good to say the least.

Exactly. I'm guessing the ice in Victoria was probably a lot better than it was in Korea. Not that that's the deciding factor but it obviously plays a huge role in the game.
I didn't get to watch any of the Worlds, I couldn't find it on TV!
And I'm really disappointed that the Chinese team won. There are lots of quality womens teams out there though, sure Canada probably should have finished higher than 4th but that's still decent.

Except Scotland. Martin just threw away his second last rock and lost. Not sure what he should've done with it, but apparently it wasn't that.

Correction. Martin WAS smoking all of them.
Terrible decision to throw that one away. Should just open up the front and give himself at least a draw with the last. Instead he had a circus shot at the end.
Never thought I'd ever see Martin lose to anyone three times.

I'm still trying to figure out how the heavy shot was a better choice than a raise on the front one. Was there a rock out front blocking it that I didn't see, and if there was why didn't he clear it with his first shot? Would have kept the middle clear for his last shot, no matter what the Scots did. Odd.

I know, that's why I said it wasn't a deciding factor, but ice DOES play a role in how a game can go. If one team can read the ice and the other can't, the team that can't will make more mistakes reading the ice and won't make as many good shots. It's not an excuse for losing, no, but like I said it can affect who wins or loses based on who can read the ice. Even great teams will have trouble reading ice when it's inconsistent over the week.
Can anybody describe what happened in the Scotland/Canada game? I didn't get to watch due to Easter.
