7 explosions at the start of rush hour this morning in London targeting the underground system and one of them was on a packed bus.
At the moment only 2 dead but that number will rise as many people are still trapped in Kings Cross Station.

So far there are ten confirmed deaths - however those totals will rise sharply just saying that from looking at the pictures of the bus.
Edit: I hope that the protesters subdue their protests in the wake of these events.

Five weeks ago, Mrs. Cowperson and I were at Russell Square at a Monty Python festival thingy . . . where a bus apparently exploded. We were also using the Kings Cross station for the subway and the train service.
The thing you notice on the subway is there isn't any room on either side of the train to escape.
I know there were a number of Calgarypuckers through London in the last couple of months but isn't there someone there currently as well?

I just don't get the thinking. The execution for the war on terror is dreadfully unpopular in the UK and as for Bush....! Aside from being unphased by bombs in the capitol having suffered them for years, the people are more likely now to galvanize around a more offensive stance in that war. Plus all the other leaders other than Bush were intent to talk about world poverty, global warming, african relief etc. and keep it away from security or at least from that dominating. Guess what now???

ugh, this is one of those days when riding the subway really sucks. It was eerily quiet today....I dont think I heard one conversation on a packed 30 minute ride, clearly it was on people's minds.
It's been brought up in the past that the reason islamic terrorists (and Im going to go out on a limb here and assume its Al Qaida ) never hit London is because it was considered somewhat of a haven for a lot of its spiritual leaders and such. A kind of we'll leave you alone if you'll leave us alone detente mentality. Im assuming that will be changing lickety splits.

No, im in Glasgow, Scotland but its only an hours flight from here to London. Scary how close to home it is. Madrid seemed close but this is a whole different kettle of fish. The G8 summit is about 30 minutes drive from here so keeping everything close that the stupid violent protesters have a look at themselves in the wake of this and that obviously no further acts of terrorism are planned.

You assume these cowards actually care what people/countries think of them. They dont.
The radical Islamists want EVERYONE dead who isnt following their warped interpretation of the Koran. If you aint one of them...you are an infidel. End of story.

One of the funnier T-Shirts on sale in London was "I'm Islamic. Don't Panic" and worn by, usually, muslim women.
I imagine those might disappear for awhile.

That where you are wrong. Although terrorists don't care who or what they kill, they do care what other countries think. The whole purpose of terrorism is some sort of political/ideological gain. Their acts, although completely disgusting, they see as a way to gain some sort of support in from like minded individuals- to bring attention to their cause. However irrational it is, support somehow legitamizes their acts.

Then why did they do this in London? Your theory was just, literally, blown to smithereens.
They dont care what other countries think of them...as displayed by their completely random targets.
You not radical muslim....you die. Period. Allah says so.

If they bombed the crap out of Bern, Switzerland, I would agree this was a completely random attack.
But England is America's greatest ally, and has been walking in step with Bush in both Afghanistan and Iraq. I would suggest that this is hardly a random choice for an attack. It also comes on the back of the "successful" bombings in Madrid that caused Spain people and government to tuck tail and run. I dont think England will do the same though.

London also just won the Olympics. Anybody think that timing is a little too coincidental? Lots of publicity there...
I'm just wondering what would have happened if New York won the Olympics. Another 9/11 all over again?

Terminal 3 at Heathrow Airport has now been evacuated too due to a security alert.

I dunno, personally I dont think its Olympics related. I think if they wanted to mess with the Olympics as well, this would have happened yesterday since I just don't see London winning the vote in that circumstance. Why would the terrorists miss that "opportunity" if the wanted to derail the Olympic bid? And this is not something they could organize in one day in retaliation for them winning either.

This was too well coordinated to be done on the fly. I'd bet the G8 being in Great Britain is the reason for the target. The olympics are just coincidental.

US, Kenya, Tanzania, Malaysia, Somalia, Yemen, Algeria, Spain, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey....
Its a pretty long list, with many of these attacks occurring long before the Iraq war.
