The Red River has a "once a century flood" every five years or so. Wonder how bad Winnipeg is going to get it this year.

I absolutely love that picture with the American Flag right in the middle of the set. I mean seriously, could they have made it any more obvious that that was planted specifically for the photo? Pathetic false patriotism.

Yeah, but Manitoba learned from the "great flood" of the 1950s(?). North Dakota evidently failed to heed the same lessons.

Are you serious? I think the last thing American people can be accused of is "false patriotism". Maybe the flag was planted there for the photo....but I doubt it. Even if it was, what's false about it??? Have you ever travelled through the US? Have you not noticed the flag EVERYWHERE?

If my home was about to be destroyed and I was sandbagging like hell in the freezing cold for days and days to try to save it from certain destruction I might need a little patriotic lift too.

Yah. Yankees are ridiculously patriotic. People have flagpoles in their front yards. And the ones that don't hang a flag on their veranda.

Doubt that was planted for the photo. More likely that the dike got built, then someone stuck a flag in it and then the guy taking pics noticed it and snapped the photo.

Yeah, I thought that was his dog too. That really looks like a Cowperson type photo.
