Have you ever tried mead?
That's right, I said mead.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mead
My old man just brought some in, and I gotta tell you....it SUCKS. I figured I might as well try it seeing as Conan drank it, and we all know how wasted Conan liked to get and how many sloots he could pull while wandering around a pub with a flagon of ale, but wow. Does it taste like garbage.
Anyone else ever tried this death in a bottle?

Not all mead is the same, just like all beer, wine, whatever isn't the same. I've had mead that was commercially made and sold that sucked, and home made mead that rocked. In fact, my brother makes a kick axe ginger mead. Of course, mead may not be your thing and you may well hate it all. Just saying, it can be good or bad like everything else.

How's the hangover? Seemed to me if I drank a bottle of this stuff I might as well take a bat to my temporal lobe.

Couldn't agree more. I bought some mead on my recent trip to Denmark, had it with some friends, and it was great. I had bought a second bottle here, because too many friends wanted to try it - Maxwell was the brand - and it was horrible.
Don't judge all mead by the same yardstick. The only brand commercially I could find here DID suck.

I couldn't understand how anyone could drink mead until I had it at the annual Renaissance Fair. Now I have it every year, wish they sold it in bulk there. Plenty of barwenches and legless guys there too.

Don't know ... I've never gotten drunk on it. I don't think I'd want to either ... just like I never want to get drunk on stuff like Southern Comfort ever again. Then again, outside of beer there's nothing thats very safe to get drunk on, hangover wise that is.

If your ever in Regina (heaven forbid) around christmas time Bushwakkers brew pub makes a Blackberry mead if you ever have the chance to taste it DO IT. Its nothing like the mead i am guessing you have tasted and it is one of the best beverages i have ever consumed.

That's how it starts - next thing you know, you're wearing hose and a doublet, knuckling your forehead at the Queen and pining for a good peasant thrashing.
