It was sarcastic since he seems to focus so little on actually talking about sports and more on repeating his "comic" takes and sucking up to his guests.
He seems much more interested in telling his guests how great they are than actually asking them relevant questions about their sports.
I do wonder at this point if you did take him to a major sporting event if he would be able to get over himself to actually realize what sport was being played.

I like Matt Money Smith and Petros...they have good chemsitry.
Speaking of Rome - I think JT the Brick got his foot in the sports talk world by winning a Smackoff years ago.

Okay, first off I will say I listen to a ton of sports talk radio and love this move. I am used to Fox Sports from having XM and am very familar with the programming. Steve Czaban is one of the, if not the funiest men on radio and I could listen to him all day - his show is a treat. Dan Patrick is very knowledgable, always a good listen and personally I must say I love Jt The Brick. Yes he is a tool alot of the time and has no sense of what "bias" means but he is also friggen awesome!
Personally I am a big fan of this move - ESPN radio is very sad aside from Mike and Mike which we cannot get anyway.

I can see it now:
Other caller: The Flames need to fire their coaching staff, they aren't making any progress with the Flames defensively or on the PP (ie Playfair and Preston)
Jiri: Really? What is it exactly that you have a problem with? What systems do Playfair and Preston teach? What is it exactly that you don't like about their systems? What proof do you have that they are inadequate?
Other caller: Uhhh...Well I watched some games on TV and the PP didn't look so good and I've heard on CP that Preston teaches special teams and the defense is weak and I heard on CP that Playfair teaches D. Fire them both.

Yes he did, one of the first smack off's if my memory serves me, and now he (JT) WILL NOT talk about it on his show. His reaction is pretty funny actually when callers start bringing it up.

I like Czaban as well but since he is on at the same time as Rome we will never get to hear him.
I can't stand Patrick and hated him when he was on ESPN as well. Plus another guy that will never be on based on the Fan programming.
It is the crazy weekend guys that go off on tangents all the time and talk more about their personal lives than sports that we get the pleasure of listening to.

The Team 1260 in Edmonton went to FOX a couple of weeks ago. So far I have not been a fan. The mental image I get when listening to FOX is bigger, dumber, louder guys saying the same thing as ESPN.

I listened to Fox Sports when I had XM satellite radio. I wasn't impressed, but then again, ESPN is not my cup of tea either.

Ugh. All night with Jason Smith was probably my favorite radio show right now.
As far a as sports broadcaster goes, ESPN is hands down the king. They must be asking for ridiculous fees for syndication or something because otherwise this deal makes absolutely no sense.

Petros and Money are really loud. I hate when they sub for Rome.
The only thing I'll miss of ESPN is when they used to pump in College Gameday on Sat mornings in the fall. My roomie would crank it and listen intently...I had no choice. When they cut back this year on CGD, we missed it.

Fan 960 Switching from ESPN radio to Fox Sports Radio
Just got an email saying the change takes effect this week.
Any thoughts? I've never listened to Fox before, but LOVE listening to All-Night with Jason Smith...
Is Fox Sports radio any good?
Just a note - none of the local stuff is changed of course.
