same. i heard all those tones except the last one. i can also hear the hum from a PC powersupply when it's plugged in but the PC is off. i remember working on my PC with my dad and he didn't believe me that it was making a high pitch when there was power connected. he had me turn around and he unplugged/replugged in the power supply just to test me. baffled him pretty good since he couldn't hear anything

Pretty high, I could hear when I was on a flight back from California to Calgary. Can anyone beat me?

15.8 was the highest I could hear. Damn, all those concerts I've been going to.

21.1 I could faintly hear... but the reason none of us can hear any higher than that is this; when 22.4 is selected, this comes up:

You are a liar
You claimed to be able to hear a tone that contained absolutely no sound!

This site gives instructions on how to do the test properly.

After the volume was set to the correct level I could just make out 18Khz. Whereas originally I could hear up to 21.1.

18.8 was the highest for me. 19.9 was just very vague.

I couldn't even hear the 14.1 on my laptop speakers, although there was a crackle as the sound started for all of them so presumably something is being put out.

I don't think it's supposed to be a scientific test, though - if you can't hear it coming out of whatever speakers are on your computer, I doubt you're going to hear it coming off a tiny little 1/2" driver on a cell phone.

21.1 it's a little quiet, but fairly easy to hear

No way anyone hears 22.4

I'm testing my roommates hearing by playing the 16.7 one over and over until one of them looks at me.

I can only hear up to 15.8, but my cat can hear 21.1 (she told me so). I thought it was dogs that could hear high pitch sounds.

You're really getting on a bit
You are either old or have really messed up your hearing by turning your amp up to 11 and listening to Spinal Tap. Or both.

The highest pitched ultrasonic mosquito ringtone that I can hear is 8kHz
WTF

I'm 46 and I had my ears checked 2 months ago with no problems, the 8kHz tone screams at me, the 10 I can't hear at all but I faintly hear the 14.1.

15.8.

Not a great score, but nice to know I've got a biological defence against shrieking broads.

Loud noise at certain frequencies can destroy the ability to hear at those frequencies but still allow you to hear tones above and below that frequency. You end up with gaps in your aural perception that you don't notice because your mind fills in the empty spaces unconsciously, but in a case where a pure tone is played on its own the absence becomes identifiable.

So I wouldn't worry about it, especially as nothing can be done - what's gone is gone. Unless a dog whistle is going to save your life one day, not hearing ultra-high frequencies is of no real importance.

Yah my cat was getting annoyed at the speaker and kept meowing at me as I went up the scale. Cats actually can hear even better than dogs, up to almost 80 000 hz, dogs get to around 44 000 and humans usually top out at 17 000.

Bats can hear up to 110 000 in order to use their sonar effectively, although there are some blind humans who use the low frequencies we can hear as a crude form of echolocation as well. I tried to learn how as a kid (ok, so I was a strange kid) but never got the hang of it.
