Watch Kevin Martin's team curl. I'd call that curling school.

When I was young I got a job in a curling rink, cleaning ice and such. I got more opportunities to fill in for someone than I could count when curlers didn't show up for games. Got paid for it, too.

I'd be interested for sure in joining a team. And definitely interested in just getting out there and throwing rocks.

I curled for about 4 years from ages 12-15 and i'm 22 now... so about 7 years removed but i know the basics.

I've never heard of any rinks in Calgary keeping their ice in year round. I know there are summer bonspiels in a few places and Osoyoos, BC actually does a summer curling camp, but nothing local. And drinking on the ice is very much frowned upon. The exception may be some of the small town clubs (if the junior bonspiel is any indication Medicine Hat turns a blind eye on it).

If anyone is still looking to do this I just booked some open ice at the Calgary Winter Club in the NW. They have ice until the middle of April.

$45 per hour including sliders and brooms. They also offer a 30 minute introduction lesson for an extra $35.

They mentioned there is lots of availability as most leagues are finished, or soon to be finished.

Hurry.. Hard!
