I'm pretty sure this too is precautionary. The scoring slack has been picked up by Ryley Grantham in his absence - a goal and an assist tonight in a 7-1 whipping of Kamloops.
EDIT: It was just precautionary. This from http://reganbartel.blogspot.com/
For precautionary measures the Rockets sat out forwards Mikael Backlund and Lucas Bloodoff. Head coach Ryan Huska says if it were the start of the playoffs, both would have been in action.

Wahl scores the GWG late in the third to finish off Spokane's season with a win.

Nemisz opens the playoffs with a goal and an assist in a 7-4 Spitfires win. Hopefully a long post season for Windsor.

In the WCHA Tournament, Aaron Marvin's St Cloud Huskies lose two games to none vs Minnesota Golden Gophers in the first round, and their season is done
Marvin finishes his sophomore season with 10G, 17A, 27 points in 38 games

Probably the only other threat to turn pro early is Aaron Marvin, who doubled his production in a year and is a third-round pick of the Calgary Flames — who have traditionally resisted leaving their players in the U.S. college system for long.

sounds like speculation, but maybe there is something to this

After a two game hiatus Nick Larson gets a goal and an assist helping Waterloo to a 6-1 victory of their own.

Really? Who left college early besides Kobasew and Chucko? Correct me if I'm wrong but Leopold, McElhinney, Moss, Nystrom, van der Gulik, etc all stayed in college didn't they?

Not points related but Keith Aulie was named to the WHL's Eastern Conference 1st All star team yesterday, while John Negrin was named to the East's 2nd All Star team.
Not bad.

Wow, Aulie has really taken a big step this year. Wins gold at the World Juniors, nearly doubles his previous year point totals in 14 less games, 1st team all star, captain of his team, and voted best stay at home defenseman in a poll of coaches, GMs, and players (it was posted on here somewhere). Oh yeah and he's HUGE!!!!!
It will be interesting to see how he does as a pro next season.

I think Calgary traded two 5th rounders to move up and get Aulie in the 4th rounde. I like how Calgary saw Aulie on the board and didn't want to wait around and hope to grab him with their 5th rounders. I wonder if they had him ranked higher, probably were crossing a lot of names off underneath him, and thought a couple 5th rounders was a cheap way to get what they thought was a guy who should have gone earlier than the 4th.

Greg Nemisz with two assists in a great comeback effort by Windsor, the team scoring 6 times after falling behind 4-1 in the first.

Aulie and Bouma both back in the lineup tonight for their respective teams. Backlund is still out however.

What's the story on Backlund - I thought he was just being rested for the playoffs?

I think its because of the whole Chucko thing (esp after the underage drinking incident). Kobasew left on his own accord.

Let's not forget the 3 star selections - Aulie 2nd star, Negrin 2nd star, Grantham 2nd star, and Bouma 1st star (second time in two games.)

That's impressive. Aulie and Negrin, no surprise now but Grantham and Bouma? Shows Sutter didn't draft no disappearing acts.
