It's not murder, but it's definitely immoral at the highest possible level.

The advocacy of responsible sexual education does not preclude abstinence or monogamous sexual behaviour. In fact, that is one of the first things that a responsible sexual educator recommends. Condoms are always a method of last resort, and a good one, due to their highly demonstrated effectiveness at prevent HIV infection.

There's nothing new in that. One can't expect morality from the Vatican when it sees fit to support the excommunication of the doctors who performed an abortion on a 9-year-old rape victim, as well as her mother, but thinks it's okay to not excommunicate the rapist. I guess the Vatican must figure there's still hope for redeeming the rapist's soul or something, but not the others.

Condoms 'aggravate' AIDS scourge, Pope says
Pope Benedict arrived for his first trip to Africa as Pontiff yesterday and denounced condom use on the AIDS-ravaged continent, saying there were better ways to combat the disease.

AIDS "is a tragedy that cannot be overcome by money alone, that cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which even aggravates the problems," the 81-year-old Pontiff told reporters on the flight from Rome.

The solution lies in a "spiritual and human awakening" and "friendship for those who suffer," said Pope Benedict, who will also visit Angola during the week-long trip.

The globe and mail article left out the rest of his quote where he says condoms are making the problem worse. wow.

As we've also seen the problem isn't just the Vatican and its edicts but the perversion of Catholicism in Africa mixed with tribal beliefs. Examples would include that 'sex with a virgin girl' is a cure for Aids, and that children can be witches and justifiably thrown away or killed by a family based on a preacher's judgment.

Condoms with education is the key to getting Aids under control, and if the Vatican was right about their church teaching these people how to live a good moral life and avoid aids then Africa with its highly religious nature would be a shining example of success.

Too bad that's not reality, too bad they have poverty and suffering to deal with, where abstinence seems quite irrelevant when you are dying of starvation and you believe in tribal nonsense like a cure for aids is found in sex with a virgin.

The pope should be ashamed, he's contributing to the suffering of these people, he cares more about obedience to his belief than reality of what is going on in Africa.

That's because the pope is so out of touch with reality. He is too busy covering up sex with small boys scandals and stealing people's money.....lots of money. The catholic church is so busy protecting the lies they have created and promoted over two centuries that they don't have time to be realists and understand how society really works.

Actually, that's not true. Africa is one of the last parts of the world where Catholicism is on the rise. In most (all?) industrialized Western democracies, membership in the Church is declining, since those with higher levels of education realize just how out-of-touch with reality the Vatican truly is.

Oh the silly Pope, he should really stop making public statements:
Shun witchcraft, Pope tells Angolans
	Quote:

Pope Benedict yesterday urged Catholics in Angola to shun witchcraft and woo back those who have left the Catholic church to join other religious groups, including some that believe in spirits and sorcerers.

		 |

	Quote:

In his homily, he urged his listeners to reach out to those Angolans who believe in witchcraft and spirits. "So many of them are living in fear of spirits, of malign and threatening powers. In their bewilderment they even end up condemning street children and the elderly as alleged sorcerers," he said.
