Default Actress Natasha Richardson dies

She was the wife of actor Liam Neeson.

Hit her head on a beginner ski slope in Montreal....laughed off the injury but later slipped into a coma and died.

very sad, things like this are strange because it could happen to anyone.

And its not in Montreal, it's Mont Tremblant, approximately an hour North of Montreal.

Yeah, I meant Quebec.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as rude or anything. I'm just from there is all.

I think everyone here either has spent time on the slopes, or knows someone who has, and falls happen all the time. It's very strange that a very minor fall could lead to a hemorrage severe enough to cause a death. I couldn't believe it when I heard she died, I thought they were blowing things out of proportion yesterday.

The saddest part about this is her leaving her young children behind.

Is it possible that the fall just triggered something that was inevitable at some point?

Yes, it's very sad, her poor boys must have been so scared.

I thought for sure it was blown out of proportion as well.

It's disturbing how something so seemingly minor can end that way.

Nor did I, but I've heard of her husband, Liam Neeson, and it's just overall a really sad story.

You may have, if you have kids, depending on their ages.

She was the Mom in the remake of The Parent Trap, with Lindsay Lohan years ago.

Sad Story,

Me and the wife were just discussing this. She likes to skate but she's not to good yet, I want her to wear a helmet.

I haven't gone skating in a few years, I think I would wear one now.

From what I understand she was just taking lessons on the bunny hill. Shocking but if you don't have a helmet on slopes out east it's risky, they get a lot of hard pack and ice out there...real nightmare when your on a diamond run and hit that stuff speaking from experience.

Wow, how horrible. I thought she had a concussion or something, but would be up and about after some time in hospital. I figured all the media attention on this thing was due to her celebrity and how they tend to blow things out of proportion. I never thought a fall on a bunny hill would be fatal.
I just watched "The Handmaid's Tale" the other night, I've always liked her in that movie.
Sad news indeed.

Nobody ever forced me to wear a helmet and for most of my life never wore one, be it boarding or skiing. One day a few years ago, I just decided to walk down to the store and buy a helmet. I don't have a cool story like the next run I smashed my head and was saved by my new helmet, but something just clicked and now I can't imagine going to the hill without it.

I was going to ask if they require you to wear a helmet during a ski lesson, but it doesn't sound like it from what you've said here. I'm not a skier (far too accident prone on dry ground, never mind on a snow/ice covered mountain), so I have no idea but do they make you wear one out here when you take lessons?

Well if she had a helmet on I'd say the hill didn't get her and she had some health issue. I honestly haven't looked too much into the story so I don't know for sure, I heard from a co-worker that she wasn't wearing one.
